Just an iPhone shot of the water rushing downstream from the local dam. This particular frame looked very representative of the Okanagan to me.

We are back in BC. I took this quick shot with my iPhone through the double glass, some 35,000 feet above the ground.

The photographer in me feels like I should have used my real camera with a circular polarizer. I look at it and think, "not as good as the other ones".

The truth is that this is one of the most amazing pictures I've ever taken, not for its technical merits or aesthetic qualities. But for the amount of science and technology required for this picture to exist at all and for you to see it wherever you are.

As someone who works in technology, it's easy to take it all for granted. I remind myself daily that we live in an amazing time with incredible technology at our disposal. A true testament to our standing on the shoulders of giants; to the human ability to create and innovate.

Despite having a highway run through it, Okanagan Falls is quite peaceful at night. I actually had to wait a couple of minutes to take this shot with cars in it.

Another pretty sight, right in the middle of Main St Unionville.

I find the light reflections on Skaha Lake quite compelling at night.

Located just ten minutes from our new home, Mahoney Lake is pretty unique. It is a meromictic saline lake whose surrounding rocks, flora, and fauna have been made into an official ecological reserve to help preserve them. While enjoying the peaceful setting I stumbled upon this cairn made out of colorful rocks. This lake, under the right circumstances, turns completely purple. I plan to return in the future to capture that.

I drove to Kaleden to take a photo of the historic hotel. While there, the view from a nearby bistro caught my eye. I find it very European looking.

I find Willow trees to be some of the most magnificent trees in existence. It's a shame that I must admire them from a certain distance due to allergies.

Today the sky was very hazy. It made for an atmospheric mood at sunset. Particularly, with a lonely duck peacefully cruising through it. Shot with my phone.

A fun, if dangerous stretch of the highway between OK Falls and Oliver.

Dark clouds, fog, and autumn hues at Vaseux Lake.

I randomly discovered this beautiful viewpoint with a complete view of Skaha Beach and the marina.

✰ This photo was featured on The Epic Global Showcase here: bit.ly/1WIhgaY ------------- The Andenes Lighthouse - built in 1859, the year of the great Carrington Event solar storm. Earlier that day in Kvalvika, Lofoten we knew that there is a big solar storm predicted for that night. We also saw that the weather forecast was really bad for the whole Lofoten. So after intense investigations we ended up choosing an island above Lofoten called Andøya as our destination. That was some 250km away which is something like 4 hours along the Norwegian fjords. Of course we had to check pictures of Andøya from the web and the first and pretty much only things that came up were this lighthouse and the fact that it’s a hot spot for whale watching! So this lighthouse at the very northern tip of the island was our target. When we got to Andøya it was still clear there and the aurora show got off immediately after the sunset - a G2-class storm, the kind of which I had never seen before! After stopping numerous times on different spots to shoot and driving under the most insane northern lights we finally got to our lighthouse at 3 in the morning and we watched the auroras dance until the sun came up! It was definitely worth the intense forecast and map reading! When we were checking the weather forecast earlier in Lofoten it didn’t seem like we would have clear skies anywhere after 1-2am! Andøya seemed like the only plausible option nearby..and it turned out much better! On our way back from Vernon, we stopped to admire Kalamalka Lake and the Coldstream Valley off the highway. In my opinion, it's the most stunning lake in the Okanagan, and we have quite a few beautiful ones. Shot with my iPhone.

The crazy weather continues. With such a wet Spring the mosquitos are out in full force. I literally took this photo and a couple more, before rushing back to the car. Tomorrow, I'm buying a case of bug spray.

On day 74, I took a photo of a large barn that used to belong to local judge John Carmichael Haynes in the late 1800s. Today I went back to the same location for a nearby building that is part of that same heritage ranch. This one is in even rougher shape, unfortunately, but thankfully we can still enjoy it and imagine what it might have been like back in the day.

Our brains are always looking for patterns. When I saw this group of rocks in Skaha Lake, my mind thought they looked a bit like a dragon. The long exposure helped by almost adding a flame-like effect in front of its "mouth".

I took a nice Saturday afternoon drive through the hills of the Okanagan. This spot above Cawston offered a beautiful contrast of colors. Namely, the yellow deserty hills, the green wineries down the valley, the dark green mountains, and the patch of burnt vegetation mid-frame.

Peach Cliff is a highly photogenic cliff that rises above Okanagan Falls. I'm told it's a gorgeous hike whose trail head just happens to be located on part of our street. In fact, this mountain acts as a backdrop for our new home. She is beautiful. She stands tall. She shelters, almost looking out for us. She reminds me of the many wonderful women in my life. On International Women's Day, I thank them - and all other women - for the ability to be so beautiful and awe inspiring in countless ways.

The title is a bit tongue in cheek, considering that the S.S. Sicamous is a permanently docked sternwheeler.
