After a long drive across Utah which became rather arduous due to a big thunderstorm making driving conditions quite difficult, we were glad to make it to our overnight lodgings in Price. We went out for some food at a local eatery and returned some while later to find this wonderful old car parked in the motel car park.

Not especially old, but the grime and dated wheel covers makes it look 10 years older than it is.
Okay, so it's older than I had originally thought. Now it looks it's age...
The Peugeot 404 is a large family car produced by French automobile manufacturer Peugeot from 1960 to 1975, with the exception of the truck which was sold until 1988. It was also made under licence in various African countries until 1991 (in Kenya). It was also built in Argentina by Sevel.
Designed by Pininfarina, the 404 was offered initially as a saloon, estate, and pickup. A convertible was added in 1962, and a coupé in 1963. The 404 was fitted with a 1.6 L petrol engine, with either a Solex carburetor or Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection or a 1.9 L diesel engine available as options. Introduced at the Paris Motor Show as an option was the inclusion of a 3-speed ZF automatic transmission, similar to the unit already offered on certain BMW models, as an alternative to the standard column-mounted manual unit.
Popular as a taxicab, the 404 enjoyed a reputation for durability and value. Peugeot's French production run of 1,847,568 404s ended in 1975. Still relatively common in developing nations (especially in pickup form), an additional 2,885,374 units were produced under license until 1988.

Named to celebrate Maserati's two victories at the Indy 500, the Maserati Indy (Tipo 116) first appeared in 1968, at the Salone dell'automobile di Torino as a prototype by Carrozzeria Vignale that was to replace the ageing Mexicoand Quattroporte.
The production model was launched by Maserati at the Geneva Motor Show the following March. In 1969, the Indy was offered only with a 4.2 Litre V8. For the 1970-1972 model years, the Indy started sporting a 4.7 Litre engine alongside the 4.2. In 1972, Maserati added the Ghibli SS's 4.9 Litre V8 to the range, albeit downrated to 320 bhp compared to the Ghibli's 335 bhp and from 1973–1974, both the 4.2 and 4.7 Litre engines were supplanted by the 4.9. 1,104 Indys were produced (440 4.2, 364 4.7 and 300 4.9).

The Lincoln L-Series is the first automobile produced by the Lincoln Motor Company. Introduced in 1917, the L-Series would continue to be produced after the bankruptcy of Lincoln in 1922 and its purchase by Ford. During 1930, Lincoln would introduce the Model K as its replacement.
Assembly of the L-Series took place in Detroit, Michigan.

In the 1930s, Cadillac clearly was “The Standard of the World” in luxury automobiles.
For 1936, the Cadillac 36-70 and the 36-75 were available in a variety of body styles. The 36-70 was came as an enclosed- or convertible coupe, a touring sedan, or a convertible sedan. Pricing ranged from $2450-$2745. The 36-70 had a wheelbase size of 131-inchs while the 36-75 body styles rested on a larger, 138-inch platform. The 36 and 75 were custom bodied by Fleetwood with 10 body styles to select from. Five of these body styles were for five-passenger vehicles while the remaining five body styles had seating for seven. An additional four body styles were available as Fleetwood bodied Commercial vehicles. The most expensive vehicle in the lineup was the $4,445 seven-passenger Town Car.
Powering these Cadillac models were a 90-degree, L-head eight-cylinder engine with the blocks cast enblock with the crankcase. The 346 cubic-inch unit produced 135 horsepower and was mated to a three-speed selective synchromesh gearbox. Hydraulic drums could be found in both the front and in the back.

MOTION UNLIMITED MUSEUM is the heart and soul of Bill and Peggy Napoli. From the time Bill was 9 years old and owned his very first 1940 Ford pickup, his goal was to own and operate a fine automobile museum. Not just a dingy old bunch of buildings full of dirty old cars, but a beautiful place to showcase the antique and classic cars and motorcycles Bill and Peggy have painstakingly restored themselves since they married in 1969. From the 1933 Dodge Sedan Delivery that took 8 years to rebuild, to the 1925 Studebaker Motor Home, to the Harley Davidson with Side Car equipped with a TV, all the vehicles in the museum show the touch of detail and love only true enthusiasts have for their collection. Bill and Peggy have filled the over 13,000 square feet of buildings with toys, pedal cars, pedal tractors, gas pumps, signs, pictures, and thousands of other pieces of memorabilia along with the antique cars and motorcycles. Bill and Peggy do all their own restoration work, including body work, upholstery, mechanical work, and finish detail. They always have 5 or 6 projects going at one time, including a 1957 Chevy Sedan Delivery, 1956 Mercury two-door hard top custom, and a 1919 Indian with side car. There are over 100 cars for sale at Motion Unlimited Museum at any one time. The Museum is constantly evolving and changing. So, whenever you come to visit, you will see new and exciting things each time. You're invited to come spend your vacation in South Dakota and visit one of the most unique collections anywhere. Who knows, you might also buy the car of your dreams during your visit!

The Thunderbird ("T-Bird"), was an automobile manufactured by the Ford Motor Company in the United States over eleven model generations from 1955 through 2005. When introduced, it created the market niche eventually known as the personal luxury car.

Photographed at the Gilmore Car Museum. Tucked away in little Hickory Corners, Michigan in the southwestern corner of the state, the Gilmore sits on 90 acres in a storybook setting, with eight large red barn-like buildings spread around the grounds housing the museums and displays. Well worth a visit.
While the Gilmore Museum houses a multitude of beautifully exquisite vintage automobiles I cannot say much for the lighting conditions within the buildings that house these cars. Primarily lit by relatively small halogen spotlights mounted on ceiling track. While this type of lighting does create a dazzling light effect on the cars, it also creates a myriad of small bright dots of light on the cars, resulting in not only a detraction for good pictures but also adversely effects the ability of the lens to find a good, clear focus. As a result you will not see many of the pictures that I took at the museum.
About the 1936 Terraplane
The Hudson Terraplane model (produced from 1934 to 1937) was, in my opinion, one of the most distinctive (lower priced) cars of the 30’s era with its classic Art Deco waffle grill and its swooping fan-tail rear fenders. The Terraplane had a classic European appearance which belied its lower end cost and lack of advanced features.
The Terraplane contributed greatly to Hudson Motor's sales during the Depression 1930s. Sales of the Terraplane outpaced Hudson vehicles in the late mid-1930s. Ironically or perhaps, stupidly, Hudson management was, reportedly not fond of the fact that the Terraplance model outsold their Hudson models and this was partly why they chose to eliminate the car as a make.
One unique feature of the Terraplane was the "Duo-Automatic" brakes. Terraplanes had two brake systems—hydraulic and mechanical. Should the hydraulic brakes fail (i.e. the brake line had a leak in it), the mechanical brakes would be used to stop the car. The Terraplane was certainly not renowned for performance, however with a 212 cu.in., 6-cylinder “L” head engine producing only 88 brake horsepower @ 3800 r.p.m. Although Hudson did offer an optional 7.0:1 compression ratio engine that produced 100 h.p. @ 3800 r.p.m. this option was not a big seller in that the additional cost did not justify the meager gain in performance.

In many ways ahead of its time: Front wheel drive, independent front suspension, concealed headlamps (operated by a hand-crank on the dash), a standard radio long before they were common, variable speed windshield wipers, full instrumentation on the dashboard...
The louvered wraparound grill gave this car the quaint nickname "coffin-nose." Only about 3,000 were manufactured, and this has to be one of the finer restorations, if you ask me. Not that I know much about that kind of thing, but I know the person who restored it, and he doesn't do things half-assed.
Most of this information I learned from the owner, but it is also included in this article, along with a lot more I didn't know:

The BMW 328 Mille Miglia Roadster was a major design statement, well ahead of its time, using an emotive formal idiom that united aesthetic and functional aspects in an incomparable way. Its outlines reduced aerodynamic drag and wrote a new chapter in design history. The BMW 328 Mille Miglia Roadster is still a unique source of inspiration for BMW Design.

The Morgan that was reflected from a chrome hubcap in the previous photo. From looking briefly on the web I think it is from the 1970s, maybe earlier, and is a 4/4 model. The street rod is on the other side but I chose to take this from a low angle. The light was quite harsh and I did my best to soften it up a bit. A very beautiful car. It has an antique car plate.
Contrary to the early statement of family ownership, Morgan is now owned by a recently established corporation and it seems the grandson of the founder was forced out.
The Morgan Motor Company is a family-owned British motor car manufacturer founded in 1910 by Henry Frederick Stanley Morgan. Morgan is based in Malvern Link, an area of Malvern, Worcestershire and employs 163 people. Morgan produced 640 cars in 2007, all assembled by hand. The waiting list for a car is approximately six months, although it has been as long as ten years in the past. A visitor centre and museum feature exhibits about the company's history from Edwardian times until the present day, developments in automobile technology, and a display of automobiles. There are also guided tours of the factory. [Wikipedia]
