My fourth entry for the Ideas competition: “Build a Vintage car to cruise the streets of LEGO® Modular Buildings!”.
All detective who search clues to stop the criminal activities of a band of sweets's trafickers (reference to the "Detective’s Office" set 10246) need a fast car to travel the Town. The Ara Élégante is the epitome of speed, elegance and sobriety.
You can check it on Ideas website here
And go check the other entries too, there are some really good designs here
Interesting note: Always in the spirit of having fun with the name, “Ara” mean “search” in Turkish, it’s linked directly with the detective context. Ara also refer to the parrot and especially the colored plumage and the beautiful medium blue used for the car.
On the morning of May 23, 1992 in Prince George, BC (where we spent the night) I had time before the trip departed to photograph the BCRail power sitting around the engine house.

The Excalibur automobile, was a car styled after the 1928 Mercedes-Benz SSK by Brooks Stevens for Studebaker. Stevens subsequently formed a company to manufacture and market the cars, which were conventional under their styling.
Since 1964, over 3,500 vehicles have been shipped to dealers and distributors around the world. Excaliburs have been owned by many famous people, including Bill Cosby, Frank Sinatra, Steve McQueen, Dick Van Dyke, Tony Curtis, Shirley Jones, Sonny and Cher, Dean Martin, Jackie Gleason, Roberto Duran, and Paul Harvey. One of the most enthusiastic owners is Phyllis Diller - she has purchased four of them. The King of Spain was one of our more recent customers.

The Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4 is a mid-engined grand touring car. It is the fastest production car in the world, with an average top speed of 431.072 km/h (267.81 mph) for the Super Sport version.
Designed and developed by the German Volkswagen Group and produced by Bugatti Automobiles SAS at their headquarters in Château St. Jean in Molsheim (Alsace, France), the Veyron's chief designer was Hartmut Warkuss, and the exterior was designed by Jozef Kabaň of Volkswagen, with much of the engineering work being conducted under the guidance of a former VW engineer and now Bugatti Engineering chief Wolfgang Schreiber.
The car is named after French racing driver Pierre Veyron, who won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939 while racing for the original Bugatti company. It was named "Car of the Decade" (2000–2009) by the BBC television programme Top Gear.
A number of special variants have been produced, including two targa tops.
According to Volkswagen Group and certified by TÜV Süddeutschland, the final production Veyron engine produces 987 brake horsepower (736 kW; 1,001 PS) of motive power, and generates 1,250 newton metres (922 ft·lbf) of torque. The nominal figure has been stated by Bugatti officials to be conservative, with the real total being 1020 bhp or more.

An empty "Corn Train" (grain train) is on its way to Norfolk Southern in Cresson. We had planned to chase it but it got a late start leaving Clearfield. This was our only shot of it, at 6:26PM. SD40-2s-7095, 7109 & 3478 are up front. End of day 1.
The Pontiac Sunfire is an automobile that was introduced for the 1995 model year by Pontiac as the compact car to replace the Sunbird. Not only was the name changed, but dramatic styling changes were included as well. The new styling was shared with the redesigned Chevrolet Cavalier. Along with the fresh new look the J platform was updated structurally to meet more stringent safety standards for the 1996 model year.
4-door sedan
The SE trim was the standard for the Sunfire which included the 2.2 litre 2200 OHV Engine.
The Pontiac Sunfire went through two facelifts in its 11-year run. Once in 2000 which was a small redesign featuring the heavy plastic cladding look that was prevalent with Pontiac at the time, and more streamlined update in 2003. In the US, the coupe was the only model available from 2003 to 2005. The sedan continued to be sold in Canada and Mexico until the end of production on June 22, 2005.

This Duesenberg coupe, delivered to North Castle of Hawaii in 1921, has the distinction of being the very first customer owned production passenger car built by the Duesenberg brothers.
True to the company’s racing heritage, this Model A Duesenberg was the first passenger vehicle equipped with four wheel hydraulic brakes and an overhead-cam in-line 8 cylinder engine. In another sign of the maker’s competition past, the Castle car was fitted with full length belly pans and an exhaust cut-off. Typical of the era, the Castle coupe, car #601 in the factory’s record was produced as a running chassis without a body. The body, by Bender, is unique as it was custom built to accommodate the large frame of the 7-foot tall vehicle.
This car has been in the care of the Castle family for 4 generations, and is the only Duesenberg that is still in the family of original owners. The #601 has just completed a five year restoration by Canepa of Scotts Valley, CA, where it was returned to its original 1921 specifications.

The Chevrolet Monza is a subcompact, four-passenger automobile produced by the Chevrolet division of General Motorsfor the 1975–1980 model years. The Monza is based on the Chevrolet Vega, sharing its wheelbase, width and 140 CID (2300 cc) inline-4 engine. The 1975 Monza 2+2 was designed to accommodate the GM-Wankel rotary engine, but due to mediocre fuel economy and emissions compliance issues the engine was cancelled, and a fuel-efficient 4.3 liter V8 engine option was substituted. The name was also used for the Latin American version of the Opel Ascona C.
The Monza 2+2 and Monza Towne Coupe competed with the Ford Mustang II and other sporty coupes. H-body variantsBuick Skyhawk and Oldsmobile Starfire were produced using the Monza 2+2 body with grill and trim variations andBuick's 3.8 liter V6 engine. The Pontiac Sunbird variant was introduced the following model year, eventually offered in both Monza body styles. The Monza nameplate originated in mid-1960 for the sporty version of the Chevrolet Corvair.

I really like the old 190E's, and this one was in a fantastic condition, it looked almost new! The MOT shows it's not quite as good as it looks, with advisories almost every test, however the owner (who has owned it nearly 12 years) is obviously keen to hang on to it.
