This image was created to see if I could apply decals in Photoshop. I'm fairly satisfied with the result. Credit for the sweet decal designs goes to lego3x11l! His stuff is awesome! Go check out his photostream!

The train almost hit a cat!

4-LOM is a LOM-series protocol droid manufactured by Industrial Automaton. It is known for use of a variety of alien species. His head is sculpted to resemble the features of the insectoid species and its roughly humanoid build. Jabba discovered this intelligent droid and used him often as a bounty hunter, usually partnering him with less intelligent hunters.

Creepy it is. I know. And I'm sorry. But I so had to do this. I mean this creature is very well crafted for a Hasbro's action figure. There are so many different angles to work with the camera.

Never built a Vic Viper before - always been intimidated by the quality of the stuff put out by other builders during NoVVember. Decided I had to give it a go, and this was the result.

The works under the throne are linked to the wheels, so that the chariot can move under its own power, apparently drawn by the cats.

Bordsautomat, Venus i en vagn dragen av katter

Sydtyskland, 1600-talets början

Urverket under tronstolen är kopplat till drivning av hjulen, så att vagnen kan rulla av egen kraft, till synes dragen av katterna.

Today's We're Here Challenge: Robots, Automatons, Mainframes

Der Steinadler is Prussia's flagship. Efficiently defended against ether-pirates by its war automatons, it can fly from Earth to Mars in just 3 months.

Amazing builder, Walton F. Wainwright, created an amazing stage with what looks to be like a chapel, a library, and a steaming birthday cake all rolled into one huge monument. Don't miss this one in the back and well worth the trek after listening to one of the talks

I've messed around with this colour scheme in steampunk before, but after getting more dark green parts I couldn't stop myself building a whole range. I thought the aeroplane looked a bit like Thunderbird 2, and so "Imperial Rescue" it is!

With this I wanted to build a retro style robot

Manual automaton commemorating that one time Lovecraftian sea monsters attacked the city and drove half the people mad with soul-gripping terror. #neverforget #cantanyway

I got those dark blue panels from Legohaulic's destroyed spaceship at a Lego convention like seventy years ago and I never touched them again, until I needed a dark blue sea for this.

The lesson: hoard everything and dispose of nothing, because you never know when you'll need it again. If they find you crushed under a stack of old newspapers, killed by your own booby trap, this is simply the price you pay for a life of completion.

The L4D is a friendly automaton for heavy lifting in warehouses.

This Moc aas been sitting on a shelf since 2021. Now it's finally immortalised in pictures.

The clack of typewriter keys echo though a haze of cigarette smoke and bourbon fumes. That wiry, melancholic automaton sits hunched at a battered oak desk, its spindly limbs awkwardly elegant, with hands poised over a manual typewriter. Beside him is a tumbler of amber bourbon, and a cigarette smolders in an ashtray near a stack of scandalous manuscripts – titles like “Sin in Celluloid” and “The Blonde Who Knew Too Much.” The walls are lined with yellowed clippings and rejection letters pinned like trophies. A dusty fan spins overhead, stirring the smoky air as the robot stares blankly ahead, lost in thought or perhaps in the tragic poetry of its own programming.

"He had always been a loyal servant of the State. Then he started fighting to be his own man . . ."

This was George Lucas’ feature directorial debut. The police who are portrayed as nameless, faceless automatons, remind me of the stormtroopers in “Star Wars.”

Giant "Anime" Nittere Ohdokei Clock in Shiodome District of Tokyo, Japan

The clock known as Nittere-Ohdokei (NTV Grand Clock) is designed by the world famous Ghibli animator and film director Miyazaki Hayao and resembles a bit the castle in Hayao's film "Howl's Moving Castle". The huge mechanical clock (sculpted by Shachimaru Kunio), which took 5 years to design and build, is considered to be one of the biggest clocks in the world. It's not just an ordinary mechanical timepiece, it weighs 28 tons, and it can perform 32 mechanical tricks. In order to create it the developers used 1,228 copper plates. (Source: Wikipedia).

Also, is anyone else going to see the The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug LIVE Event today at 5:00 PM EST? I can't wait to view it!

This template, which is over 100 years old, was made in France, Nancy, after 1919 to 1925. Size 29.5 cm x 40.5 cm (11.6 in x 16.0 in). Wind propulsion. The design was certainly created by the same designer as the previous paper automaton model by me, "Les Forgerons". For the assembly, a second template was printed out and attached for the back, mirrored.
