Colors of silence

Silence is the sky so vast, ever changing its hue

Without a sound creating a mesmerizing view

Silence is the windless green, in stoic acceptance it gleams

Big, bright, beautiful silently bestows without dreams

Silence is the green of a grass, flexible bouncing back

It's ego less, easily withstands attack without crack

Silence is a breezeless pond, still and calm

Silver mirror, reflecting the inside, best balm

Silence is brown earth, broken but serene

Detached, dutiful, perfectly serving umpteen

Silence is the golden autumnal leaf,

Serving silently it shines with peace

Silence is the mountain, brown, green or white

Ever tall, unbroken in adversities, it stands upright

Silence is kaleidoscopic nature without wind

In white snowflakes, pure silence we find

Flowers of silence comes in colours bright

Mindfully basking in inner glow, disperse light

Some days ago i went back to the black grouse lek to enjoy their fightings. Another sunrise spent watching this amazing animals perform their mating calls, mating with females (some picture will come soon) and a lot of fighting. In this image the start of one of these fights that, usually, last few seconds. The animals usually peck each other and hit each other with the wings to try conquering a female with whom to mate.

After protecting my peacock feathers from all children and animals for years, I find myself allowing Toby kitten to decimate them, one by one, because it's just so darn much fun to watch him.

Lucy (our dog) stands amazed. She can hardly believe it. When the kitten first started playing with the feathers, reaching out from the bannisters and pulling them out of the floor vase with his claws, she would come and get me to let me know the kitten was being naughty. Then when she saw me actually picking a feather out and giving it to Toby, she couldn't believe her eyes. She's like the older child watching the baby of the family get away with stuff she was never allowed to do.

This is a 9 frame sequence taken in less than 1 second of a gyrfalcon attacking a flock of snow geese. You can see his single target near the center of the sequence with blood on its back. The falcon flew in multiple times and hit the single bird with its talons. Shortly after I captured this sequence, a bald eagle flew in and took a single bird. I'm guessing the eagle grabbed this falcon's meal. Skagit Valley, Washington. November, 2019.

This crow could not distract the Bald Eagle from the salmon so it jumped on it's head. The Eagle ignored it and continued to eat.

Futuron* was a peaceful and friendly population.

Indeed their ground vehicles and spacecrafts were designed to explore new planets and new worlds.

But something is changing: a black menace is coming from the deep space, its name is Blacktron.

The black men want to attack the Futuron people probably to steal the sought after and valued Monorail.

To prevent the Blacktron attack a new armored vehicle is ready to fire: the "White Tiger".

This medium-class tank features 2 middle-range surface-to-air guns, a rotating turret and a crew of three (the commander, the driver and the gunner).

The nick name is a tribute to the invincible german White Tiger tank from WWII.

Will the "Tiger" be able to destroy the black menace?

*Futuron was a subtheme of LEGO Space released between 1987 and 1990 to replace Classic Space series.

I recently watched Attack the Block starring John Boyega. You may know John Boyega as Finn from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. IMDb's description of Attack the Block is: "A teen gang in South London defend their block from an alien invasion." Their description is a pretty accurate. However though it sounds pretty weird, it's a good movie!

I hope you like the photo and I hope to start making more photos soon! :)

We spotted quite a few giraffe during our time in Kruger which was always exciting. We sat for quite a while and watched this giraffe try and reach the leaves at the top. While we were waiting the other giraffe came over and he had scars all over his body. I thought it may have been from an attack by a lion or leopard, but someone said it looked more like some type of cancer - maybe someone might be able to help.

Ahhhhh, finally....a little alone time for me....

B-52H 61-0020 doing a low level simulated airfield attack at Lossiemouth 15 Sept '93. One of a pair of 416 Bomb Wing jets that day, quite a sight. There was a singleton the following day as well. Can't remember which Nato exercise was on at the time but not a common sight.

Cock Greater Prairie Chickens attacking a rival. On the way back to Saskatchewan, I stopped in Kearney, Nebraska, on the Platte River to see the Sandhill Cranes. Prairie Wind Birding Tours was nearby and offering watching and photo opportunities for Greater Prairie Chicken dancing on a lek. I took over 4500 photos. It will take time to process all that! She'd been attacked, pecked relentlessly on every side, little bruises covering virtually every inch of her, all hidden under the endless layers of silk, lace and fur. Curiously, there was no blood anywhere. Not a single puncture wound visible. She reeled for a while, not understanding anything, completely dazed as she watched her world change from black and to white again. The ravens had flown away to find something fresh, and left her in lying in the cold snow that numbed the pain and invited her to sleep. And when she agreed and shut her eyes, she no longer saw black and white, simply gray nothingness. Soft gray noise, comforting like a pillow wrapped around her body, buffering her rough edges, pressed even against her mouth. And it was reassuring, all this fuzzy softness, and she relaxed and fell back to sleep. First one day, then the next and then the next after that, waking only to note that she was still sore, then nodding off again, returning to her new world of gray noise.

At some point, she caught herself dreaming, "This is so much better. Perhaps I'll just keep lying here forever. I'll let the snow come and make me a warm, thick, last blanket, and just fade into the gray noise." And again, she shut her eyes.

She was awakened by a tapping but ignored it and soon feel back asleep. A moment later, she felt a little pain in her hand, something she had not experienced in days (weeks?). She tried to ignore it, but there it was again, worse. She tried to rouse herself, but felt like she was under water and could not swim to the surface. The pain in her hand intensified. She forced herself to focus and summoned everything inside her to rise to the surface, grasping to find her voice, puncturing the thick, gray noise that enveloped her. She opened a watery eye and was met with an inky black stare. A raven was looking directly at her. A long moment passed as they studied one another calmly, the victor and the vanquished.

A few flakes of snow glided down, decorating her wrist like charms of bracelet, then landing on the raven's feathers, melting into a darker shade of black. The bird blinked then resumed his task, pecking hard into the soft skin of her palm.

She shut her eyes again.
