Arctic Tern trying to attack me

A trio of BNSF SD70MAC's meet at the north end of the siding at Loveland, Colorado, on May 31, 2019. This is along BNSF's Front Range Subdivision between Denver and Cheyenne.

I'm sorry but the quality isn't so good.

Bring it on chicken little! Bald Eagle standing its ground against a Swainson's Hawk. The hawk came in fast with talons out and tried to knock the eagle off if it's fence post. The eagle kept it's balance after the attack. You can see the eagle using its '3rd eye' to protect the eyes from the attack. The image is out of focus a little as I was not expecting such a fast and fierce attack but you can see the 3rd eye closing. I tried to sharpen it up a bit but just ended up degrading the image....so just used a little. Interesting that the hawk only did one attack run and moved on.

Well, not really attack.

The light was not great in this shot but it's been a long time since Mouse appeared on my stream so I brought my camera when I went over to visit Mad and Mouse this afternoon.

There's a lot of grain but that's okay, you can still see how cute Mouse is.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

This is my entry for Round 6 of the 2014-15 Middle Earth Lego Olympics .

I had lots of fun building this one, completing 90% yesterday and today!

Reference Picture.

Sir Lance A Lot uses the low-level attack mode as he searches for bait fish in the somewhat flooded mud flats area along Horsepen Bayou. The bayou is a tidal estuary and subject to tidal changes and the herons have to employ different techniques to catch their prey as the water levels change in the area with the tidal movements. Tri-colored Heron captured on Horsepen Bayou. He had little concern for my presence as well, but remaining motionless is the key to getting shots like this. One move and he's gone in a flash.

As you can clearly see the fungus has really made a meal of this one. look at an enlarged view and you will see the image covered by the tell tale thread like marks. The fungus has been cleaned off by wiping with a soft cloth moistened in isopropyl alcohol. The damage to the emulsion can be clearly seen. The damage is beyond dealing with in Photoshop!

Quite why this image is so much more effected than others on the same strip I know not!

A Mute Swan aggressively protecting it's territory.

Blue jays are fast and so anticipating their next move is essential and occasionally we get the focus where we want it.

Ready for attack.

These seagulls were out for blood....like a scene from the birds. Anyway, this is from the Oregon coast at Cannon Beach. A great and favorite spot, in the background is Haystack Rock. Always a great time there, especially in the winter months!

These snake pictures are surprisingly popular. They're pretty blurry which is too bad, but my old film cameras never had any of that fancy 'auto-focus' stuff on them, and people always seemed to puzzle over how to do it by hand. At least one of the reasons they are so popular is due to people googling anaconda.

Somewhere in the Greenland Sea we had the luck of witnessing a polar bear sneak in on a seal, climbing on the ice and launch its attack. The seal was lucky to survive, but it was very close ...

Thanks for checking out my mini scene, have a good day!

Also, I will be on summer vacation for about a week, starting today; So if you notice I'm not uploading, just know that I'm not dead.

I put out some sugar water and fruit out for the wasps and have been having fun observing their antics. There have been many skirmishes when one approaches another too closely! Nearly as funny as the wrestling on TV! LOL. I managed to get a couple of shots but it is all over in a flash! This one nearly lept out of the frame! You can see the shadow of the attacker.

1:15 A.M. I decided to document a real chocopie attack. You will note the lack of a glass. No one in their right mind goes to the trouble of pouring milk into a glass at one in the morning! You might note the size of the bite. This was not done politely but half-asleep and with a burning hunger for chocolate.

Chocopies are universally loved throughout the Korean Peninsula and beyond. It would not be going too far to say that these are greatly valued in North Korea (who gets them illegally) and in Russia. They are actually traded for things in North Korea. The Russian port of Vladivostok is awash in Chocopies as they are a favorite with Russian sailors.
