THE terrorist attacks on Mumbai that began Nov. 26 — they’re calling it “26/11” over here — could have been a setback for India, for Mumbai and for Tata whose flagship hotel, the Taj Mahal Palace and Towers, was one of seven targets throughout the city. If it was a setback, it was only momentary.
The Taj was one of the targets specifically because the terrorists knew the iconic role it plays for Indians. Opened in 1903, it was built by the Parsi industrialist Jamsetji Tata after he was refused entry to a Mumbai hotel with a strict Europeans-only policy. Incorporated as the Indian Hotels Company, it was the first company of the Tata Group.

This is my aunt and she's ok; her eye will be fine (once the swelling goes down and she can see out of it again, at any rate). She was deliberately making a frownie face here.
I put the picture up as public and at the top of my stream to allow family who don't log in to flickr to get a look at it. We decided she needed a better story than slipping and falling on some ice, so we've started with a lobster - it makes the stitches seem MUCH more intriguing. She wanted to go with Harry Potter, but his scar was further up - however, we are in Iowa, and there are a bunch of political candidates out here for the Caucus, so some sort of battle with evil incarnate is still a possibility.
We're still working out the details - it's not really in her personality to tap on the tank at a grocery store, but she may very well have jumped in to rescue a lobster that was under assault by children in a grocery store or something like that.
Encountered this snake in the middle of the trail. Instead of sitting still as snakes usually do when faced with threat, the snake-dude decided he would take no shit from me.
Okay, so the story is that my brother had left a few empty paper bags in the hallway. The kittens had a ball with them, and Peaches was the first to come up with the brilliant idea of climbing *into* the bag. Misty just saw something moving in the bag, and went batshit crazy pouncing on it and trying to kill what was inside the bag - she didn't quite realize it was Peaches, I think. Anyway, Peaches didn't really enjoy being jumped upon, and I was SO busy laughing I wasn't much help. The above is Peaches crawling out of the bag just as Misty pounces again. The look on Peaches' face is making me laugh every time I look at this one!
