This is impressive to me. Someone hurled a cake at a car with enough force to shatter the windshield. Don't mess with Oaktown bakers!

For the NHS 'do what you can' challenge where I was joined by my daughter Kaitlyn and her boyfriend George (all same household) on my 'Attack the Attack' walk (keeping a safe distance from the few others out and about).
This is the 11.4km walk I did around the Radnage area in Dec 2016 that led to my heart attack on the final climb back to Bledlow Ridge [peterjemmett.blogspot.com/2017/10/the-year-that-was-part-...], I have since dubbed subsequent walks and runs 'attack the attack'.

To launch an attack on the cornucopias food, gardening and DIY chain stores are. There, to carry out short-lived actions performed with very little means and clandestinely introduce a workshop and an exhibition space so as to turn the distribution network into an artist residency structure. This is the simple and common idea that brought together Antoine Jolivet and Paul Souviron.
Together they create sculptures using the goods sold by the supermarket, a process that is both minimal and indefinitely reproducible. Among shelves and customers they exhibit smuggler-like constructs made without nails or screws. The process is stopped if a security guard or a manager start allowing it. The two artists then go in search of a less welcoming store.
Those chain stores on the fringe of the cities provide the two artists with an endless supply of raw materials. They use the gaps in the book of rules to play by their own rules and install their own little disorganisation company.
The website www.encastrable.net shows archive photos and videos of these transient actions, thus composing a sort of exhibition catalogue.

This is my aunt and she's ok; her eye will be fine (once the swelling goes down and she can see out of it again, at any rate). She was deliberately making a frownie face here.
I put the picture up as public and at the top of my stream to allow family who don't log in to flickr to get a look at it. We decided she needed a better story than slipping and falling on some ice, so we've started with a lobster - it makes the stitches seem MUCH more intriguing. She wanted to go with Harry Potter, but his scar was further up - however, we are in Iowa, and there are a bunch of political candidates out here for the Caucus, so some sort of battle with evil incarnate is still a possibility.
We're still working out the details - it's not really in her personality to tap on the tank at a grocery store, but she may very well have jumped in to rescue a lobster that was under assault by children in a grocery store or something like that.
We bought Claire a cheap digital camera for Christmas - Check the wacky color and distortion. It takes some pretty great crappy photos.
Prince Charles opened a memorial at the rear of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office headquarters opposite Saint James Park. The memorial consists of a 1.5 metre marble globe, to represent that people from 21 countries were killed, and has 202 doves carved into it. The names of all 202 victims are on a curved stone wall behind the globe. It is the work of artist Garry Breeze and sculptor Martin Cook.
The 2002 Bali bombings occurred on 12 October 2002 in the tourist district of Kuta on the Indonesian island of Bali. The attack was the deadliest act of terrorism in the history of Indonesia, killing 202 people, 164 of whom were foreign nationals, and 38 Indonesian citizens. A further 209 people were injured.
The attack involved the detonation of three bombs: a backpack-mounted device carried by a suicide bomber; a large car bomb, both of which were detonated in or near popular nightclubs in Kuta; and a third much smaller device detonated outside the United States consulate in Denpasar, causing only minor damage.
Various members of Jemaah Islamiyah, a violent Islamist group, were convicted in relation to the bombings, including three individuals who were sentenced to death. Abu Bakar Bashir, the alleged spiritual leader of Jemaah Islamiyah, was found guilty and sentenced to two and a half years imprisonment.[1] Riduan Isamuddin, generally known as Hambali and the suspected former operational leader of Jemaah Islamiyah, is in U.S. custody in an undisclosed location, and has not been charged in relation to the bombing or any other crime. On 9 November 2008, Imam Samudra, Amrozi Nurhasyim and Mukhlas Ghufron were executed by firing squad on the island prison of Nusakambangan

This angry fowl went right for my leg, and got a beak full of denim as I pulled my leg away. Maybe he expected us to feed him. In any case, I was mildly disappointed that it would have been inappropriate to retaliate.
After an extended absence from Swan Lake, we conquered territory that had previously only been hinted at. Right in the beginning of November, square in the middle of Autumn. I had almost forgotten how many laughs from our magnificently long weekend were captured on camera during our return to the lake. I was pleasantly surprised to revisit a few of those moments, and made sure to get a handful up here.
Were the moments really that funny? Were we just cold? Were we worn out from our late night of dance followed by an early morning wake-up in Charlotte? Was there truly magic around the lake? Around the gardens? I'm pretty sure we were just that funny.
Today I ran the course I walked that led to my heart attack in Dec 2016, this is only the second time since then that I have gone over this route and the first time I have run it - my thanks to Ann Smith, Paul Szefer and Josephine Chaplin for keeping me company on what is an emotional route for me and I even managed to run part way up 'heartbreak hill'

Attack Nihon-Ichi is an event in Misato-machi (a little town south of me) where people do a timed race up the largest store staircase in Japan. The staircase itself is 3333 steps, and participants in the race can choose the amount of time they think that they'll complete the climb up and down. The person who finishes closest to their time wins.
Oh and you can wear costumes and such as you race up the stairs. It was really fun!
I did in in about 1 hour and 25 minutes.
