The Deputy Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police has issued a warning to the perpetrators of gun-crime in Salford, telling them “enough is enough.”
The warning comes after police released the description of the two men responsible for the shooting of a 29-year-old woman and her 7-year-old son last night.
Shortly after 9.25pm on Monday 12 October 2015, two men knocked on the front door of a property on Gillingham Road in Salford.
The mother and son answered the door and, following a brief conversation between the offenders and victims, one of the men fired a number of shots.
The woman received two gunshots wounds to her legs, whilst the boy sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.
They were taken to hospital for treatment, where they remain in a serious but stable condition.
The first offender is described as white, between 19 and 20-years-old, of ‘chunky’ build and was wearing a baseball cap. He spoke slowly and with a Salford accent.
The second man is described as white and was also wearing a baseball cap.
Deputy Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said: “This is a sickening and cowardly attack on a seven-year-old boy and his mother in their own home. This level of criminal recklessness is putting innocent people at risk. This has to stop.
“We have stepped up our response to organised crime in Salford over the last few months, with more than 50 specialist officers now working on several major investigations, with the support of the National Crime Agency.
“The shootings that have happened are clearly part of two distinct feuds between organised crime groups; one in the Little Hulton area and the second in the Swinton and Central Salford areas, which includes the murder of Paul Massey.
“We believe the sickening events of last night are linked to the dispute around Swinton and central Salford.
“This morning we have made seven arrests this morning and last month we arrested 24 and charged 22 people in relation to the organised crime dispute in Little Hulton. We are, and will continue, to work with Salford City Council to try and prevent further incidents.
“The vast majority of people in Salford are law abiding citizens who are very proud of the city and will also be sickened by this horrific attack. However, there is still a core of people in Salford who are prepared to use firearms to threaten people and sort out disputes between crime groups. This is clearly putting the wider public at risk.
“I understand that people will be very concerned and this if they have information they should come forward and we will support you. Clearly people associated with these crime groups will have information and I appeal to you to search your soul and come forward with what you know.
“This has to be a turning point - people can no longer remain silent.”

Camp White at Table Rocks
During World War II, a portion of Upper Table Rock was part of 43,000-acre Camp George A. White, known as the “Alcatraz of Boot Camps” for its tough conditions. In 1941, Camp White occupied nearly 50,000 acres and contained nearly 40,000 people at its peak, more than 16 times the area and 3 times the population of nearby Medford. At its height, Camp White was the second largest city in the State of Oregon.
The Beagle Range encompassed the east and north sides of Upper Table Rock and was used to practice infantry drills such as taking enemy strongholds. It included concrete pillboxes designed to simulate Nazi fortified coastal regions of Europe. Troops practiced manning and capturing the pillboxes, often with live ammunition. Tanks were used to fire on the pillboxes, and men inside were given the task of repelling their attack. Training in the Fortified Zone also included flame throwers, 105-millimeter artillery, simulated TNT, and electrically fired explosions.

At 4:19AM on July 11, 2019 the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 1220 S Wall St in Downtown Los Angeles. Firefighters arrived to find a 50’ x 100’ row of commercial units with heavy smoke showing. Immediately, crews initiated simultaneous operations with truck companies going to the roof, firefighters working on forcible entry to gain access and hand lines being prepared for interior fire attack.
The 6,900 square foot building, built in 1924, is deep and presented challenges reaching the fire. After approximately 20 minutes of working to locate the seat of the fire while it continued to rage, the conditions were too precarious for the offensive operation to continue. Incident Commander, Battalion Chief Michael Castillo, declared the transition to a defensive operation and all firefighters withdrew both from the interior and the roof.
Crews quickly put multiple master streams in action, setting up ladder pipes and large diameter hand lines on the ground and the roofs of adjoined buildings. Their dedicated efforts in defending the two attached buildings on either side of the fire unit paid off and prevented any extension into those structures.
102 firefighters achieved full extinguishment of the fire in one hour and 49 minutes with no injuries reported. The three units in the main building suffered varying levels of damage with the central unit being most heavily affected. LAFD Arson and Counter-Terrorism Section responded per protocol for a Greater Alarm fire and the cause investigation is on-going

The Republic decide to hide amongst the wreckage debris and launch sneak attacks. The Republican Space Marines (drk blue) sneak their way through the wreckage and debris of the battle worn city, avoiding the Rakorian troops (drk green) until they are in position to fight back.

Robert Del Naja, aka 3-D. Was one third of Massive Attack, then one half. Then their latest album was sort of his solo project. He's pretty essential to the group, you could say. He also dances funny.
This was the end result for the birthday cake that I made. Marianne turned 14 and he really loves her 3 cats and 1 dog (can you spot the poor dog being picked on by the three cats). She has 2 black and white cats and a tortoiseshell one. She loved the cake.

The cubs are now almost 4 months old... they change every time I see them. On this latest visit it seems as if they've taken the 'attack mode' to a whole new level!
Regular visitors to my photostream will know that I have a fascination with the population of wild and free Australian black swans at La Trobe Uni.
This swan is an enraged parent - launching an attack on a couple of much smaller waterbirds, whose only crime was to go too close to the two baby swans, just out of picture.
It was stunningly quick - over in seconds, but he got his point across!

The Black Swan (Cygnus atratus) is a large waterbird, which breeds mainly in the southeast and southwest regions of Australia.
Black Swans are mostly black-feathered birds, with a line of white flight feathers of the wing edges that sometimes show when at rest, and are conspicuous in flight. The bill is bright red, with a pale bar and tip; and legs and feet are greyish-black. Cobs (males) are slightly larger than pens (females), with a longer and straighter bill. Cygnets (immature birds) are a greyish-brown with pale-edged feathers
A mature Black Swan measures between 110 and 142 cm (43-56 in) in length and weighs 3.7-9 kg (8.1-20 lbs). Its wing span is between 1.6 and 2 metres (5.3-6.5 ft. The neck is long (relatively the longest neck among the swans) and curved in an "S".
The Black Swan utters a musical and far reaching bugle-like sound, called either on the water or in flight, as well as a range of softer crooning notes. It can also whistle, especially when disturbed while breeding and nesting.
