The Atomic Bomb Dome opposite the Aioi River. The building was the closest structure to survive the blast which was almost directly above the dome at a distance of approximately 100 meters south and 600 meters above ground. The intended target for the atomic bomb was the Aioi bridge in the background.
The city has back filled behind this building, now a vibrant and modern place once again. Across the river, the Peace Park which is lovely & quiet. A bell tolls at 8:15am
Tony Price, Atomic Thunderbird (1994; cut and assembled stainless steel, bronze,
plastic, and mixed media, 57”x31”x7”) Tony Price’s mixed media artwork recreates a fictional bird from Native American lore out of surplus metal and plastic pieces that he purchased from Los Alamos National Laboratory. Thunderbirds are portrayed as intelligent, strong, and powerful birds that are capable of creating thunderstorms wherever they fly. Price creates his Atomic Thunderbird in a similar shape to many Native American drawings, with the bird shown from the front with the wings on
either side of the body and the tail straight below

A project posting concert/gig tickets from bands I have seen over the years.
I've found all my ticket stubs I retained, and will post them on the anniversery of each gig.
Some were good, some not so good, and some were awful.
Some I really wanted to see and took a few hours on the phone to secure tickets. (No internet all those years ago).
Others were bought by friends and I went along not knowing what to expect.
Some of them I remember well, and a few I don't.

Just got back from Japan and finally got to visit the Atomic Dome! After years of seeing and reading about it I finally was able to get there. Incredible country and people and I already want to go back!
Hiroshima Peace Memorial, commonly called the Atomic Bomb Dome or A-Bomb Dome (Japanese: 原爆ドーム Genbaku Dōmu), in Hiroshima, Japan, is part of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. The building serves as a memorial to the people who were killed in the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945.
