Here is a very easy way to make new backgrounds for your ATC's.
1. Select the books you want to use.
2. Choose your background pages. ( Tear your pages out of the book, I use a utility knife then I pulled them out without tearing the pages.
3. Cut your standard ATC size 2.5 x 3.5. ( don’t forget to glue on your cardboard backing.)
Now you have several backgrounds to use when creating your ATC’s.
4. Look at the examples they came out pretty nice!!
So easy!
I hope this is helpful to someone : )
I created this ATC by crumpling a vintage book page and distressing it with Vintage Photo distress ink and the Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz "Oddities" rubber stamp set. It reminds me of the cover for Silence of the Lambs.

A digital ATC (2 of 2) for a challenge on the Craftster site - theme was "children's books." The Little Prince is my favorite.
ATC number 12 for the swap. Used Sandy Bartholomew's new tangle Baubles in a star arrangement. An eight-point star, aka Morning Star, is an ancient Latvian symbol protecting against darkness and dark forces. Inner auras in Pilot Choose Gold pen, plus some Tipple to round it off. The usual J.Herbin ink splash for the background.
Today I used for the background Alcohol inks, I haven make a card and a ATC

The swap title instantly reminded me of Unicorno, so I made a Tokidoki-inspired ATC
"A bird? A plane? Nope, a cupcake unicorn leaping over a rainbow!"
