Working on a video for this process right now and thought I'd share the image. :) If you want a free PDF of these to print off and play with yourself, please PM me your email and I'll send it off to you!
These are a 'new thing' for me, so I'm just getting my chops yet. :)
India will soon make it to a select club of nations that boast of sky-high air traffic control (ATC) towers. Mumbai's Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport, being developed by the GVK-promoted MIAL will be the country's tallest ATC tower - at 83 meters, roughly the height of a 22 storey building.
The ATC tower is expected to be completed by June this year and will be operational from January 2013. The tower, which will cost an estimated Rs 350 crore, will be the world's fourth-largest.
Tired of dressing up in Mother's old party clothes, Susie led Charlie across to the bookcase. There were so many old books... some with pretty pictures and writing with colours on them.
Together, they reach for the red leather book, and, amidst much dust, pulled it to the floor. Susie couldn't read properly but pretended to Charlie that she could. She began telling him the story of an older sister... one that their parents had kept hidden, in this very attic.
Susie told Charlie that this was her book. That Sabrina had written her name and drawn all these pictures too.
Charlie sat, looking at his sister, mesmerised. He was fascinated to hear about Sabrina, who had long golden hair, who slept in the blanket box where all the clothes were, waiting for a prince to come and wake her up with a kiss. Susie drew on her memory for inspiration and kept the story flowing.
Charlie was too young to doubt Susie's story, and whilst Susie turned the pages, the dust disturbed by her rapid movements swam in the dusky light and her words seemed to be butterflies, swarming around them.
Charlie held out his hands and let the dust motes fall through his fingers, imagining them to be Susie's words, all around him... secrets in this book.
I love books... and one of my earliest memories is the frustration of having to wait to be read to. I was reading before I went to school, and have continued to do so most nights before bed through to my adult life.
I love illuminated writing and went to see an exhibition at the V&A in London where they had so many books in Gothic style... and I was mesmerised.
If I have kids, I will make sure they get read to before they go to sleep. I believe that it's a beautiful gift to give your children - a love for the written word - and allows them to paint their own pictures in their imaginations.
The prickly pear flowers are now long gone...
It is just the "pricklies and the sticklies" that are around these
super sizzling summer days...
But
that's the beauty of art...One can make a cactus bloom
whenever one's little heart desires!
Have a "prickly and stickly"-free...cool Cactus Monday All! :)
ATC 2.5" x3.5"
These are my first ATC's I have ever done :) This is my Earth Goddess ATC for the Goddess ATC swap on Swap-bot. The Goddess is made from clay and painted with acrylic paints to give it a 3-D look. The background is made from a piece of scrapbooking paper mounted on cardstock.
UPDATE 0830/06: Didn't your mothers ever tell you to be careful what you wished for??! Muwahahaha The invasion has begun!!! Part 1. Part 2. It is all YOUR faults btw, I am blaming you. hehe
One of the cards I did for the (April) monthly Artistamp ATC swap I host. Had a blast making him and have images of screaming vegetables in my head now that want to come out.
From the same linoleum block print as the Night bird one. The block is larger than an ATC, so these each feature a different part of it (except the bird on the right is the same one as in the Night bird ATC). The background is archival deco paper.
Available for trade.
I had fun creating this one. I was making the ephemera magnets I posted a couple weeks ago and decided I wanted to do an artistamp ATC. I've made notes on where the individual elements came from.
This artistamp is also available on a one-of-a-kind, handmade, collaged magnet on Etsy for $3.50 and I am including one of these ATCs as a gift to the buyer. I say gift because I do not believe in selling ATCs.

This is Val's second ATC. Again, I used Val's artwork to create this for him. Due to layout, I had to put the artistamp on the reverse and think for his I may continue doing it that way to make it more unique.
He has a few of these available for trade (edition of 18, 9 in the swap so 9 available). These are for/from Val Michael Selvaggio and not Renmeleon/Ria so you would need to contact him directly at angelus.luminus [at] gmail.com for trades.
