Active Assignment Weekly - soft focus.

ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION

Your assignment this week is to capture your images using a technique called "Soft focus". There are a number of different ways to achieve soft focus; including manual de-focusing, stretching a nylon stocking over your lens, using a diffusion filter, or post processing. The idea being that your image is soft and pleasing to look at. I know I imediately delete any shot thats not fully in focus, and this will be a challenge. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

WIT: One clear bowl of water, one CD in the bottom, and a few drops of vegetable oil... the autofocus wasn't picking up the oil drops (and neither were my aging eyes), so this was an outtake on an experiment that I want to try again in natural light. Shot under tungstun lights, 0.4 sec, f/2.8, ISO 800, curves adjustment and vibrancy addition in CS4, noise reduction, and sharpening (though I don't think that did a thing).

After a long and hard two weeks, I am getting my head back on straight after dealing with several family emergencies. I'm late but I am catching up and plan to be ahead from here on out! I saw in the last tutorial where the compositions are put together that you did the zig zag, the wiggle, and the circle, but I also rendered out and uploaded the animating text on a path, and animating text as shape layers as well. Thank you for everything! flic.kr/s/aHsmWArBoM

Po & Leopard, in the lizard & chipmunk-hunting grounds

A little photo I took for the strobist theme, and while I'm less than pleased with it and therefore am going to make another one and another until I am satisfied I thought I'd share a bit of what came of that light setup I posted next to it.

First assignment in my digital photography class. We had to try and mimic William Eggleston's style.

Active Assignment Weekly: 21-28 May 2018: In One Place

Spec: PIck a spot, and shoot 25 pictures (not in burst mode). You cannot move your feet once you've chosen your spot, but you can crouch, stretch, or move your body on any way to get the shot. It's a photographer's version of the game Twister, so I guess yoga experts may have an advantage here, haha! Try to shoot different subjects, or use different angles or lenses to shoot. Once you have your 25 shots, pick the best 2 and upload for the assignment. Restrictions: None, except as noted in the assignment. Dare: Pick a place indoors to take your pictures.

WIT: There is a nice Poinsettia tree in the grounds of our office base. Cropped and a small contrast tweak. One view up and one view of the ground with dead Poinsettia leaves.

Me, also processed in Lightroom and CS2 to get a decent B&W.

Assignment: Shutter Speed: For this picture, I used a fast shutter speed so the photo would be in focus. Then I had to turn up my ISO so the picture would be brighter.

Me, processed in lightroom and CS2 to get a B&W I was happy with.
