"Chom Chom", Long Thanh, Vietnam. "Chom Chom" is called as "rambutan" in English. This kind of Southeast Asia's fruit is favorite, sweet, tasty and very inexpensive in Vietnam.

. . . Hug a Teddy. This is the inscription on the button on the brown teddy bear. These two sit on my bed and are my favourites. They look like they are ready for Christmad too. There is a story behind these two teddy bears also and that's the reason they always sit on my bed.

The wooden idols of Kinnala have been accorded a Geographical Indication (GI tag number 159). A GI is a sign used on products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities or a reputation that are due to that origin. Today, there are only 25 families in Kinhal village practicing the art of Kinnala.

Kinnala idols are known for their vibrant colours and glossy finish. They usually depict gods, mythological characters or animals. Each Kinnala idol is entirely handmade, and the process is very laborious. The wood used to create the idols is from a tree called ‘Ponki Marra’, which grows in and around Kinhal village. This wood is soft and light weight, making it easy to sculpt.

So I am having dinner with an oil executive and he says "...now, I hold Mike responsible...". he was referring to all of the addled phone users who are missing out on the life that is so evidently taking place, right in front of them.

And he wasn't just referring to human behavior in restaurant environments that we see so commonly. Nor did he mean the 'time wasting' which can be understandable in: subways, airports, and train stations. In this particular case, he was plainly disappointed in (all of the) people who seem so unaware of the physical world. Like these museum visitors in the midst of the terra-cotta warriors - the quarter-scale ones - that are a wonder of the world.

Talk about putting the ethical shoe on the other foot. Maybe I should try having dinner with someone from Goldman Sachs soon.

My friend, Don Davenport had a few doll heads mounted on a wall in his workshop, and when I asked, he explained that each of them had done duty as a hood ornament on his car. I took a few Photogshop liberties with this to emphasize the demonic qualities that I perceived, although I'm not sure they were necessary. The other two doll heads that I recently posted on Flickr were not messed with like this one, but I couldn't help myself. It's like something came over me. Bwoo ha ha ha ha.......

Lighting info: Simple lighting, because I was traveling light. The main light was from a YN560 in a 24 inch soft box placed camera left at 9 o'clock and about 5 inches from the head. Fill light came from a large silver disc reflector. The flash, in manual mode, and my tripod mounted camera, were triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N.

I'm calling this a still life and have placed it in my Still Life Album. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157635247182331/

This wooden hut in Leiden is a temporary object by the Japanese artist Sachi Miyachi, referring to Gravensteen building behind it (of which the eight arch windows were copied in wood), as well as to the history of this place: once death penalties were executed here in public

"Dep" is a Vietnamese word, it means similarly as "slipper" in English.

This garden sculpture took the place of the old bird bath. It is very cute and shows 2 birds at top and one peeking out of the sculpted tree trunk.
