The African continent has been known for many years as the place where mankind originated. And with the discovery of the fragments of probably the very first early human Homo Rudolfensis in Malawi, the validity of the Chichewa interpretation was quickly clear.

As I haven't worked only with metal for a long time, it was time to get all my pliers ready to start my tried and proved cold metal working.

And yes, I admit it. This time, as an exception, the background was pre-processed with new image editing software for Smartphones.

Despite the fact that the state of Kenya is better known in Europe than Malawi and that Homo Rudolfensis was first found in Kenya. I have decided in favor of the Chichewa of the Malawi validity. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, the next interpretation will already be included in the first South American validity.

This little stuffed squirrel was part of the decorations by the Christmas trees in the local mall in West Vancouver, BC.

A cute idea making a small owl out of some branches, pine cones and other items as a table decoration. Saw this in a window display.

This is the kind of painting that makes me wonder if I can paint and what's it all for. when I look at the slick perfection of noteworthy painters in magazines, it makes me want to take twenty years of painting classes.

But then I remember my favorite two paintings by George Bellows, Blue Morning and Lone Tenement

Every time I visit those paintings, I circle the other work and I am always drawn back to these two. And then I remember why I paint.

I love to make boxes! These are shrines I made for our upcoming "HANNA_HOOLY" Holiday Open House. The wire doors open and each has a different theme. They stand or hang on the wall. I envision them holding a dear treasure!

This is complitely handmade polymer clay vase. I made a shape from scrap and then decorated it.

The print is lacking life, but I still like it.

The meeting with Jutta Burkhardt, an artist from Munich, is due to a coincidence:

I found the info about the Finissage for the exhibition "Unternehmerinnen II" in an instagram post of ngla and decided to visit this event because of the announced appearance of a classical singer, Eva Glasmacher. Among the few visitors, I noticed a woman who wore a funny mask and thus interpreted the corona requirements in an ironic way. During the welcome by Franz Schneider it turned out that she was Jutta Burkhardt, one of the participating female artists. The art objects selected for the exhibition showed different aspects of her work. For me the most fascinating elements were the pieces titled Aphasia_, which is a term used for the inability to speech through a brain damage but can also be described accordingly as the art of telling stories without language. Since I wasn't familiar with the meaning of this word I had to ask for an explanation and thus an interesting conversation about the creation of these works of art developed. My fascination for the art objects on display also evolved to a fascination about the person who created these phantastic landscapes and I was keen to show her portrait as part of my photo project. Fortunately she accepted my invitation to participate and we found some time at the end of the event for a short portrait session.

..

Since the influence of the corona pandemic on cultural life is still ongoing, it seems to me only logical to show the corona compliant portrait with a "protection" mask as a contribution to the international group "100 Strangers".

Thank You, Jutta, for your willingness to participate in this project and the interesting exchange of ideas during our conversation on this sunday afternoon.

A relatively unknown and ancient Indian art form dating back to the 15th-16th centuries, Kinnala comes from a village called Kinhal in the Koppal district of Karnataka, India. It originated during the rule of the Vijaynagara Empire, when kings invited crafts people from across India to come and work in their capital, Hampi. The early practitioners of Kinnala, called ‘Çhitragars’ (which literally means the one who draws and paints), were painters of temples and palaces in Hampi. The famous mural paintings in the Pampapateshwara Temple, and the intricate work on the wooden chariot at Hampi, were completed by ancestors of the Kinnala artists of today.

Oosterpark

The Oosterpark in Amsterdam is the first large park laid out by the municipality of Amsterdam. The park is located in the Oost/Watergraafsmeer borough and forms a component of the Oosterpark area. The park, an English garden, was designed by Dutch landscape architect Leonard Anthony Springer and was laid out in 1891.

In order to create the Oosterpark, a centuries old cemetery behind the Tropical Museum had to be relocated. There were a lot of protests at the time when the municipality of Amsterdam suggested the new plans. In the end the protesters gave in and agreed with the new location for "their" cemetery which is now known as the New Ooster Begraafplaats. In the park is a pond with a small island. The park also contains a part of the former cemetery.

The park contains The National Slavery Monument, which commemorates the abolition of slavery in the Netherlands in 1863. The monument was unveiled on July 1, 2002 in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Beatrix. The dynamic dimension of the monument, the National Institute for Dutch Slavery and its Legacy (NiNsee) was opened on July 1, 2003. Every year on July 1, NiNsee commemorates the abolition of Dutch Slavery in the Oosterpark with the Keti Koti festival.

The Oosterpark also contains a memorial to Theo van Gogh, a film maker and controversial columnist who in 2004 was murdered nearby by a Muslim extremist.

Along the park towards Linnaeusstraat (close to the Royal Tropical Institute) there are a number of grey heron nests.

The streets lining the southern and western borders of the park are also called Oosterpark. Originally these streets were called Eerste Parkstraat ("First Park Street").
