Small article that ran in the Times 9/14/08. In case it's not legible, text reads:
No Jimmy Buffett, Just Warren and Son
When the composer and philanthropist Peter Buffett holds a "concert and conversation" next month in Los Angeles, a special guest will appear: his father, Warren.
Although Warren E. Buffett is mainly known for his investing skills, "I am going to call him up to show that he can play a pretty mean ukulele," the son said. "I look forward to sharing the stage with him."
Both Warren and Peter plan to sing; Peter will play piano. (The cellist Michael Kott will also perform.)
Peter Buffett said he had inherited his musical ability both from his father and his mother, Susan, who, he said, "played the piano around the house and sang semi-professionally, jazz standards." Mrs. Buffet died in 2004.
He added that his father had courted his mother with music.
"My mother was not nearly as interested in him as he was in her," Peter said. "He would go to her home and play ukulele with her father, who played the mandolin. My grandfather fell in love with my father; he thought he was great, and then my mother did."
The Emmy Award-winning Mr. Buffett is a composer of both instrumental and vocal music. His new vocal album, "Imaginary Kingdom," will be released next week.
During his Los Angeles concert, at the Paley Center for Media, he said he would discuss "the trajectory of growing up in Omaha" and "finding that music is in my heart and making a career of it."

Article text reads: Inspired by her older brother, Patrick, she took up BMX much to his dismay. In typical sibling fashion he insisted she not ride, that she wouldn't stick with it, and she certainly wouldn't be any good. As she enters into her fifth season ranked No. 2 in the state for her division she's made it quite clear big brother was wrong.
Gabriella has a list of wrecks a mile long that includes ribs cracked by another rider's handlebars and tire marks across her left arm. After all that she still grins from ear to ear and provides a succinct one-word answer when you ask her why she races, “Adrenaline!”
Like most extreme sports there are very few women competing in BMX. While she would like to see more women in the sport, she says it's a lot more competitive for her being the only girl.
“Guys are more fun to race with. When you beat them then their friends make fun of them for losing to a girl.”
Racing isn't all fun and games, by far. With her parents divorced she divides her time between Arvada and Berthoud. By the time she arrives at her mother's Arvada home Saturday night she's long overdue for some rest, and for good reason. Her summer schedule includes four or more races a week and sessions with her personal trainer. Factor in travel to 10-13 nationals a year and winter indoor races and it becomes clear she is deeply committed to her sport.
Her dedication and commitment shine through when she speaks of racing.
“Racing isn't a team sport,” she said. “When you're on the track it's 100 percent you. It's all heart, and all smarts.”
Her father, PJ, smiles when she says this. And he should, he's her coach. At an age when most kids would rather not be seen with their parents, Gabriella doesn't seem to mind.
“Dad is pretty crazy,” she said, “He won't let me coast.”
Her tone became more sincere as she described a time her father was away for two months.
“I didn't know what to do without him. I'd go to races and I couldn't ride right. I missed him. He's really important in my racing, and my life”
Any boys with wild ideas about taking up BMX to land a date with this teen might as well give up. While she has dated one or two racers she made it sparklingly clear that, “BMX boys are like my brothers. I couldn't see dating them.”

I wanted to share with all of you what I got in the mail the other day! Hardwood Floors asked to do an article on my floor now and one when it is completely finished. I am totally blown away were I find myself today! When I started working on the floor, I had no idea it would lead to anything like this…leading to making new friends and having so many people take interest in it. Now I just have to get back in the shop and finish it:). I am still working on the electrical, its a big job but be patient I will get back to the floor, I promise:).
Here is the online version of the story.

In the past, my Flickr photos were frequently picked up for use on web sites, in news articles, and occasionally in print publications. Over the past few years the use of my photos has dropped off considerably. Of course, over that same time frame I have seriously neglected my Flickr account, and I moved a number of the popular travel photos to another site (which no longer exists).
I am happy to see this recent use (October 2017) of one of my older Flickr photos by a small local Texas news site... because, you know, my sense of self-worth is entirely dependent on social validation, and I sure ain't gettin' any on Instagram!
