Barack Obama and wife Michelle Obama dressed in Muslim garb. Michelle as a terrorist and Barack in traditional muslim dress with turbin. They are standing in the oval office and in the fire place is a burning American flag and there is a picture of Osama Bin Ladin on the wall. This political satire was used by the New Yorker magazine in there July issue. This image was not taken lightly with the Obama Campaign team or with any of the presidential candidates for that matter. This image is viewed as a media spectacle because we a Americans focus our attention on terrorism as a force that once brought destruction and turmoil to America. This magazine cover is suggesting that Obama supporters are electing a terrorist to office.

Sunday morning's automated freezing rain warning made the local news where I live. (The Portland Clock is a restaurant/hotel/gas station/barber shop/salon/something else at the exact address where our house exists.)
Since Catcher has not learned to tape two pieces of paper together before trying to write across both of them, I have translated the article:
"Alarms go at eight ten, wake up

The Portland Clock
At eight ten in the morning Sunday, two alarms beeped three times, very loud indeed, noted by the people sleeping there, near the location. It seemed very weird.
“What the heck was that,” quotes Portland Clock staff Alice Baker.
“Very startling. I thought there was another power outage.” quotes Portland Clock Manager, Catcher Kemmerer.
There was a lot of “What was that all about,” when a staff came down the stairs, who said, “The CIty of Portland just called, I hate that.
It turned out to be an alert to stay inside because of freezing rain, which fell last night.
The freezing rain froze ten “I Hate Rita Skeeter” signs in front of The Portland Clock."

I thought I had lost this article, but found it today in the Bible that Aunt Lucille gave me when I graduated from high school. It was still in the card that Mom sent it to me in along with her note. There was also a handwritten note (in Daddy's own handwriting) that just said "Hebrews 13, 1 and 2." I looked up the verses:

So like him to always think of others and to remind me to as well. I miss him.

The Cities of Bayswater and Swan are working on a joint initiative to make local sporting clubs stronger and even more sustainable.
“Blue Ribbon Clubs” is an incentive based accreditation scheme that encourages clubs to adopt policies and practices that will contribute to their long-term success.
The Blue Ribbon Clubs project has been created as part of a sports club development scheme funded by the Department of Sport and Recreation in partnership with the Cities of Bayswater and Swan.
City of Bayswater Mayor Lou Magro says that by participating in the initiative, the 160 clubs within the two cities will be in a better position to plan for the future, access funding and ultimately increase their membership.
“The scheme will assist clubs to better market themselves, secure funding through grant applications and sponsorship requests, and provide a safe and secure environment for members.
“The idea is that Blue Ribbon accreditation will become synonymous with a high level of professionalism that shows the clubs have a strong community focus and plan for their future.”
The programme provides checklists of good practice that address areas such as alcohol management, health promotion, budgeting, planning, as well as good governance and administrative skills.
