Here's another from my little excursion a couple days ago. This is Lake Arrowhead, which is about an hour west of Big Bear Lake, where I am staying. It's absolutely GORGEOUS up here! And COLD! Temperatures in the 60s sure feels nice after being in 105 degree Mesa for the last few weeks. I LIKE IT! These lakes are beautiful, but very difficult to shoot. They are very built up. The rocky shorelines are gorgeous, but full of houses. It's really difficult to find a spot where I don't have a bunch of houses and parked cars in the shot.

Unlike most other species, the Arrowhead Orbweaver sits head up in its web which makes it a whole lot easier to photograph.

Also called the Triangle Orbweaver, this is one of the orbweavers with an interesting and distinctive abdomen shape. I hadn't noticed what big chelicerae they have until this photo - those are the bulging structures under her palps, which house her fangs.

Arrowhead Blue is a butterfly I see every year, but only a few. So, every time I see one, I take his picture. Yes, this is a male. Photo taken below the "Rabbit Ears" on Mt. Ashland on 6/29/19.

The Kansas City Chiefs somehow managed to beat themselves against the Denver Broncoes.
The Missabe arrowhead logo doesn't get as much play as the circular logo around here but it can be found on some heavy equipment (front-end loaders, forklifts) on a couple non railroad buildings in Proctor and on the fleet of Difco side dumps that are used primarily for winter limestone. That's what we're seeing here basking in the evening sun.
Arrowhead: Frame 2
My other Arrow finalist for Macro Monday's ARROW challenge.
I decided to go with the other comp, because it offered more arrow detail.
This comp has the same details as my other submission...

Arrowhead blue butterflies

I think these are both arrowhead blues. The one on the left definitely is. I don't have a photo of the underside of the one on the right, so I'm not so sure.
There were several large butterfly puddles at the top of Swakane Canyon Rd. They attracted 100's of butterflies, moths, bees, ant and various other insects. It was quite spectacular.
