Lance-leafed Arrowhead gets its name from the shape of its leaves. It was seen in seen in shallow water, in the thick shade of the cypress swamp at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, Florida.

Looking across British Columbia's Emerald Lake at the Lodge on a stormy day.

The reflection of Mt. Burgess reminded me of an arrowhead. Such a special place.

"Next time a sunrise steals your breath or a meadow of flowers leave you speechless, remain that way. Say nothing, and listen as Heaven whispers, do you like it? I did it just for you."

Arranged three pointed seashells to form an arrowhead-like shape. Not too sure if it works but giving it a go anyway just for fun! HMM!

Arrowhead - An amazing light play on the impressive Aonach Eagach ridge reflected in the super still waters of Loch Achtriochtan.

Looking up from Glencoe, Aonach Eagach dominates the scene up the glen, its hard not to be transfixed by this view when conditions are like this.

A couple more of this guy to come for Arachtober . . . another week now!

This double-crested cormorant caught a pipefish. It was fun watching him wrestle the pipefish.

We visited a local marsh during high tide when the rising waters force Soras and rails out of their usual habitats, creating a rare opportunity to spot these elusive birds.

This one has eluded me for a long time. And we saw 3 flying before this one finally perched on a fallen dead tree. Robert Salinas (here on flickr) came to the wetlands from TX and found the first for my county a few years ago, and pal Stacy saw that one - and another last year. They like to fly in the mornings and we went a little earlier yesterday due to gathering storms. It was hot and very humid from a rainy week.

This is a rare species in Georgia - and it was one of the most beautiful dragonflies I've ever seen. And huge! Surprised at its size ... 3.5 inches long - bigger than the other two spiketail species I've seen. Golden yellow in the sun with those turquoise eyes. My husband was impressed too. The spiketail flew several times but kept returning to this dead tree.

And ... big clubtails - Blackwater clulbtail & a Sanddragon - were also out for the first time. It's been a fun week with odes!

>> Arrowhead spiketail (Cordulegaster obliqua), male, at the wetlands near Little River, North Georgia - yesterday. There are 2 subspecies in GA per Giff's ref: the bigger Southern one with blue eyes (this one) and a smaller Northern one with green eyes

The English name "Arrowhead" is a perfect description of the shape of the leaf. 👌

英名のArrowheadとは葉っぱの形を表していて言い得て妙です🤔

This is not still water.. the waters in Singapore are'nt rough. It was closer to low tide. Long exposure helped me to flatten the waters.
