there is no need to go to Marina Bay Sands, Singapur or to Bilbao to shoot a famous archtecture for the umpteenth time ...
you walk through the streets, the postman lets the door open for a tiny moment and you slip in and take a photo of an unknown building of an unknown architect, but it's a gem ...

Transport network for the slick and insane, a great effect made more dramatic using the reflections from an empty shop window. Taken on Dale Street Liverpool, looking towards Water Street and Liverpool Town Hall.

I cannot imagine the strength and duration of the forces that first assembled and then fractured this cliff face. At the same time, I loved the abstract appearance of all the hues and cracks in this natural stone wall near the end of the Hidden Rocks Trail in George Washington National Forest near Briery Branch Virginia. (The end of the trail is atop the cliff.)
Most times you see the ministry in full glory, but my eyes fell over the contrast between the round shape of the offices in the background and the rectangles on the foreground

The present ground-plan, derived from the Church of the Apostles at Constantinople, dates from 1063. In 1075, the Doge passed a law requiring all returning ships to bring back something precious to decorate the basilica, accounting for the more than 500 columns of rare marble, porphyry, alabaster, and jasper brought back from the East. The interior is clad with 4,240 square meters of gold mosaics, mostly from the 12th and 13th centuries.

I've been to Brugge a few times now and have got to know many of the famous haunts. This spot is a Mecca for tourists and photographers alike with the dog leg in the canal, the ornate brick buildings and the towering Belfry in the background.
We were on my cycling clubs spring tour; Brugge is a short hop over the English Channel for us, (two hours by ferry), and a 65 mile bike ride. Lucky enough we had a car and a van for backup so I was able stow some of my photographic kit.
Late one night I was able to extricate myself from the usual socialising and leg it to this spot approximately a mile from our hotel. Thankfully most of the tourists, (yes I know I'm one), had left the city or were tucked away in their hotels for the evening. Blue hour was coming to an end and thankfully the canal was mirror calm. The huge tungsten lights gave the scene a surreal quality with their orange glow which allowed me to capture this gorgeous night scene.
7 exposure, tripod mounted hdr -3 - +3. Nikon D700 with 16 - 35 f4 vr @ 22mm. ISO 800, exposure 1/5 - 25 sec at f9. Post processing via adobe camera raw, photomatix, & photoshop with topaz clarity and de noise plugins. I really had to mess around with the pp to try and remove banding in the blue sky. Anyone ever come across this problem?

“Only he can understand what a farm is, what a country is, who shall have sacrificed part of himself to his farm or country, fought to save it, struggled to make it beautiful. Only then will the love of farm or country fill his heart.”

One year after opening, the Torre Latinamericana successfully withstood Mexico's 1957 magnitude 7.9 earthquake. Mexico City's Angel of independence monument was toppled. The tower has since survived further earthquakes unscathed including the 8.1 magnitude 1985 earthquake. The foreground building Edificio La Nacional was the tallest building in Mexico City in the 1930s.
