Scanning old negatives for archive 30.08.22.

Scanned with Epson Perfection V100 photo.

Scanned @3200dpi 100% and resized to 300dpi, finished image size 6900 x 6900 (23 inch print).

The Epson V100 doesn't scan 120 film. I scan as a reflective photo with a strong natural daylight lamp over the film. I just leave the lid open.

This is taken in the basement of my office. I've been meaning for a while now to take a photo of the rows of rock samples. There are dozens of these shelves that move on tracks in the floor. It's a pretty neat room. There is also exposed bedrock on the far wall.

The perspective seems a bit funky, but it was the best I could do hand held. I hadn't thought of bringing the tripod. Anyway, this space kind of reminds me of the closing scene of Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Arc. Though the contents of these plastic boxes are much less evil.

The harsh bunker of a state archives and museum building, and home of the SHPO and WV Culture & History, where I spent much time as a tot. (My dad used to work there.)

Designed 1973-1976 by Silling Associates. The building is not concrete, but limestone. There are not many fans of this building, me included.. even when I was a kid it already seemed a bit tatty and hopelessly dated. The robo-buttons in the museum hardly ever worked and there was far too much open space. Don't worry, the museum has been extensively remodeled since then, no more robo-buttons.. it's much better now. But I still think this is a pretty lousy place to celebrate culture, history, architecture, etc. However, it's growing on me a bit as I get older. Just the cold lack of windows makes me not want to work there.... :P

Galeria Zderzak, in Krakow, Poland is one of the first 'commercial' galleries to grow outside of the state funded system of patronage in Poland.

Invited to exhibit there in October 2002, and while researching the gallery through its archives, we found video evidence that the director Marta Tarabula had been welcoming visitors and introducing artists at every exhibition opening since 1985.

We edited every welcome together, and this video loop played for the duration of the exhibition endlessly introducing artists, and welcoming each visitor.

At the projects inauguration, we in turn were introduced and thanked, and the audience welcomed by Marta.

Welcome makes explicit the exchange of obligations between a gallerist, the artists invited to exhibit, and an audience. Although in this instance, we declined the invitation of being promoted by the gallery, and instead Welcome uses the opportunity to assist gallery Zderzak through representing the gallerist Marta Tarabula.

Archive shot from a few years ago. This frog was hopping across a road looking for water. I picked her up and brought her home which was only a few minutes away to the safety of my garden pond
