from the archives. the cam is in the hospital for hopefully less than 2 weeks. the shutter button seems a little slow making action shots a little difficult. better get it fixed while under warranty which mean i have no camera....its been 6 hours and i am already bored....probably lots of archive and iphone shots for the next while....
Straight form the camera. 530EXii(1/16) on the inside to my face triggered by cybersyncs and the camera was mounted outside.
Not sure what caused the split-image: pause during panning? vehicle change of speed? time warp...?

So today's challenge was serenity. Pah! Possibly my least serene day ever, if anything could go wrong, it did go wrong.
So today you get a couple of archived shots - I liked that this one tied up with the shot below - even though it was taken before.
Hope Wednesday is treating you a little better than it treated me.
Back at Chaco Canyon looking through the doorways and thinking how small the people must have been that lived in the community. I am 6'1" and I had stoop down a way to go through this hallway.

By the end of the 19th century, Charters Towers gold mines and mills were producing their maximum yields. Over a hundred poppet legs rose above the town and the quality of life was unexcelled in Colonial Queensland. All this had happened in a period of twenty-five years. In 1897 the Editor of the Northern Mining Register wrote:
"Streets of fine shops and residences have sprung up, cold air stores, telephones, electric light, gaslight, electric fans and other adjuncts of an up to date civilisation are employed, and 20,000 souls now sleep nightly within a radius of 4 miles of the spot where the prospectors pitched their first camp a little over 25 years ago. The three workers of that time have increased to 4,000 with nearly three quarters of a million pounds worth of machinery to aid in the hunt for gold."
