The Benedictine Cloister at Monreale (Chiostro dei Benedettini) was completed c. 1200. It measures 47x47 metres and is located on the south side of the cathedral. Each side has 26 arches resting on columns. The splendid capitals include narrative cycles from the Old and New Testaments.
The official date of foundation of the company is considered to be 1849. This year, on December 6, the confectioner "had the good fortune to deliver" products of his skill to the table of members of the imperial family, and for those products he received the highest approval of the Empress and Grand Duchesses. Already 2 years later, in 1851, a workshop for the production of sweets and chocolate, opened according to Württemberg by Theodor Ferdinand von Einem, began work on the Arbat. In 1867, an entry appeared in the directory "Factory enterprises of the Russian Empire": "Einem. The partnership of the steam factory of chocolate, sweets and tea cookies". After the October Revolution, the factory was nationalized and received the name "State Confectionery Factory No. 1, formerly Einem". In 1922, she was given the name "Red October".

This vibrant photo captures the historic heart of Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia, where 19th-century homes line a peaceful stretch of road under a soft winter sky. The scene is a charming mix of architectural styles: from Federal to Victorian and beyond. The colorful houses stand proudly, showcasing their unique character—faded yet inviting. In the center of the image, a red-roofed gazebo, complete with benches, adds a sense of community gathering and small-town hospitality. The American flag waves gently, a testament to the town’s rich history and enduring spirit. Harper’s Ferry has witnessed pivotal moments in American history, from John Brown’s 1859 raid to its role in the Civil War. Now, it stands as a preserved reminder of resilience and heritage, offering visitors a chance to step back in time while enjoying the present-day warmth of local shops, trails, and scenic overlooks. The leafless trees hint at the winter chill, yet their branches, reaching toward the sky, evoke a sense of optimism. This photo invites you to explore the layers of history, color, and community that make Harper’s Ferry a truly unique destination.

The Neue Synagoge ("New Synagogue") was built 1859–1866 as the main synagogue of the Berlin Jewish community, on Oranienburger Straße. Because of its splendid eastern Moorish style and resemblance to the Alhambra, it is an important architectural monument of the second half of the 19th century in Berlin.
The building was designed by Eduard Knoblauch. Following Knoblauch's death in 1865, Friedrich August Stüler took responsibility for the majority of its construction as well as for its interior arrangement and design. It was inaugurated in the presence of Count Otto von Bismarck, then Minister President of Prussia, in 1866.
One of the few synagogues to survive Kristallnacht, it was badly damaged prior to and during World War II and subsequently much was demolished; the present building on the site is a reconstruction of the ruined street frontage with its entrance, dome and towers, and only a few rooms behind.[Wikipedia]

The St Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, Nice (French: Cathédrale Orthodoxe Saint-Nicolas de Nice, Russian: Николаевский собор, Ницца) is an Eastern Orthodox cathedral located in the French city of Nice. It is recognized as a national monument of France, and it currently belongs to the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate. It is the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in Western Europe.
The cathedral was opened in 1912, thanks to the generosity of Russia's Tsar Nicholas II.
Beginning in the mid-19th century, Russian nobility visited Nice and the French Riviera, following the fashion established decades earlier by the English upper class and nobility. In 1864, immediately after the railway reached Nice, Tsar Alexander II visited by train and was attracted by the pleasant climate. Thus began an association between Russians and the French Riviera that continues to this day.
The cathedral, consecrated in December 1912 in memory of Nicholas Alexandrovich, Tsarevich of Russia, who died in Nice, was meant to serve the large Russian community that had settled in Nice by the end of the 19th century, as well as devout visitors from the Imperial Court. Tsar Nicholas II funded the construction work.
After 1917, Communist persecution of religion in Russia led some Russian Orthodox dioceses abroad to form jurisdictions not affiliated with Moscow. One of these, the Paris-based exarchate, later assumed control of the Nice cathedral.
On 20 January 2010, a French Court (the Tribunal of First Instance at Nice) ruled that the title to the Cathedral should be held by the Russian state.

Construction: 1865. Il was the first hotel built in the city.
Engargements in 1876 and 1911 carried out by architects Duclos, Klein and Mizard.
