Here's the view of the front of this beautiful building, nearby to the iconic St. Basil's, in Red Square.
I tried to take several angles beyond the usual postcard images, both day and night. One of my favorite Moscow images (below, 'here' in this album) is at night, with this lit up in a surreal purple light.
This is the front in bright daylight, under the filtered but cool winter-white sky.

Itmad-ud-Daulah's Tomb is a Mughal mausoleum stands across the River Yamuna from the Taj Mahal. Often described as 'jewel box', sometimes called the 'Baby Taj', the tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah is often regarded as a draft of the Taj Mahal. The mausoleum, in the middle of a charbagh garden, was built of white marble raised on a red sandstone base platform.
The tomb is not a very large structure as Taj Mahal with a height of only 21 m and a dome-roofed octagonal minaret of 12 m each at each corner. It is the inlay work or pietra dura on the walls of mausoleum that makes it extremely attractive. Because of the perfect symmetry of the mausoleum, the back side view is as amazing as the front.
Kay (mathteacher) and I sure had a lot of fun exploring downtown Houston yesterday, a bit of a departure from the rural areas we usually roam!

This is one of few eighteenth-century Loyalist residences remaining in Ontario. William and Abigail Fairfield were among the first Loyalists to settle this area after the American Revolution. They arrived in 1784 and probably completed this farmhouse by 1793. Its symmetrical style and timber-frame construction evoke the architecture of the family's native New England. Except for its verandahs and french windows, added by 1860, Fairfield House survives much as it was built. It offers rare evidence of building techniques and interior detailing from the Loyalist era. By 1959, when it was donated for public preservation, Fairfield House had been in the family for six generations.
