Built in 1893, The dock office at Barry was built by David Davies to regulate the substantial coal exporting trade which had grown to world prominence in the town. It still stands glorious today, now used by the local council.

One of the few reasonable images I've managed to grab using my Sigma 10-20mm lens. Most of the time I end up with everything looking like it is falling over in the frame. Not so much this time though :)

This is one of those locations that reminds me of the fact that I like to take pictures of stuff other than just wildlife. I spent a couple of hours last evening in this little park getting some lower light pics of this structure. My trip to V-tech a couple of weeks ago reminded me that architecture and the like need some attention from my lens and this has been on my list since it was completed a couple of years ago.
While I was there I was approached by a couple of families out enjoying the warm weather asking if I did portraiture, mostly for their infants. I gave out a few business cards and told them that that I would be happy to do some work with them if they were interested in doing something outdoors. I have no studio skills of which to speak nor any of the equipment that it involves but I think I might be able to produce some nice stuff in a natural setting. They were all younger couples and I think I'm gonna steal page out of Dee's book and do it as a no charge experiment. Surely, I'll get some good stuff, some great experience, and they will get some photos. Hopefully, they will agree to a model release so I can use the results in portfolio. We'll see how it goes. It might be a good idea and it might be just horrible.
