The Small Dining-room was decorated in 1894-95 to a project by the architect Alexander Krasovsky. The dining-room belonged to the apartments of Emperor Nicholas II's family. The decor here was influenced by the Rococo style. Moulded frames with rocaille motifs enclose tapestries woven at the St Petersburg Tapestry Factory in the 18th century. On the mantelpiece is a plaque recording the fact that on the night of 25th October 1917 ministers of the Provisional Government were arrested in this room. The furnishings here include objects of applied art from the 18th and 19th centuries: an English chandelier, French clock and Russian glassware.

Red Wealth: Soviet Design 1950-1980 exhibition, Sep.26, 2015 - Feb.14, 2016.
The exhibition Red Wealth. Soviet Design 1950-1980 illustrates the history of Soviet design in a fascinating overview. Consumer culture was a stranger to communism until the 1950s. This started changing in 1959 when an exhibition in Moscow presented the American Way of Living.

The Kunsthal is not a museum with a permanent collection, but a building for temporary exhibitions in the fields of fine and applied arts. The building contains a number of neutral exhibition halls varying in size, but no depot. There is also an office area, a museum shop, an auditorium and a separate restaurant.

Lower half of an A1 development sheet showing refinement of my ideas for each card's theme character, colour scheme and media use. The bottom row being the most successful has more media combinations and experiments such as clay, textiles, felting, paint effect, string , paper-cut, paper marbling painted characters, hand typography, relief and brusho inks. All features were required to be handmade so finding effective combinations and ways of producing relatively quick but effective and aesthetic combinations was a main focus for me with this sheet.
