Perhaps one the most representative of Hungarian Art Nouveau buildings.

Built between 1893 and 1896 and was designed by Odon Lechner. Incorporates Hindu, Mogul and Islamic designs. Decorated with Zsolnay ceramic tiles.

The museum was built between 1893 and 1896 and was designed by Ödön Lechner in the Hungarian Secession style also known as Art Nouveau. It has a green roof and the interior is designed using Hindu, Mogul, and Islamic designs. There is an immediate clash between the exterior and the ceiling of the main entrance with the white interior; the aula is covered with a steelframed glass ceiling. Some years ago a pendulum was hung from here to shoe the rotation of the earth as part of the exhibition on history of measuring time.

I used to live on the same street back in the 60’s where it is located, and frequently visited the museum. Address: IX. Ullői út 33-37. My address was Ullői út 14.

Kasteel Ravesteijn (Est. 1250) Rijksmonument, omgeven door veel groen als een historische parel uit de geschiedenis van Voorne.

Details

Castle Ravesteijn (Est 1250) monument - the first wooden reinforcement was probably built around the year 1100. In 1254 as "Heerlijkheid Heenvliet" of Hugo van Voorne, the first lord of Heenvliet.

The main part, very heavily constructed by 13th century standards, consisted of a donjon with four corner towers and a moat around it. This had both a military and a residential function. The entrance gate was protected with a gate. In the 14th and 15th century, the castle was extended for a more comfortable way of habitation.

After it had been destroyed by the Watergeuzen in the Eighty Years' War in 1572, the castle was no longer restored. However, the cellars of the ruin remained in use for more than a century as a prison. According to some, before the ruin of the castle, the Pastor Angelus Merula accused of heresy has been imprisoned here for a while.
