This, my friends, is why I shouldn't have nutella in the house. I'm usually pretty good at pretending it doesn't exist but when it's in my house, I often sneak into the kitchen for a taste and dream up concoctions like this. The raspberries were reaching the end of their usefulness so while the bread toasted I made a quick compote with some elderberry syrup (from 2004 and still good!) and a bit of Grappa. I wasn't sure the chocolate mint would work but it did. In fact the first bite tasted exactly like a thin mint. I must make some ice cream with it. This was so good I was sad I didn't have anyone to share it with.
A cooking class; Dr. Lopez, the Director of the School, is at right. The vocations are pretty much sex-segregated; no boys in cooking class, no girls in shop.
A student in a computer class. The students at this school thrilled us with their devotion to learning and their sheer elan. It is depressing to know how difficult it is to reproduce this learning environment in the aldeas with which we work.
