I had deliberately gone down the back to photograph the flowers on a Stephanotis vine I have growing down there when I noticed this lacewing. I had never seen one of these Angular-wing Lacewings before and thought that this lacewing may have just emerged and needed to 'warm up' before its wings opened properly - it was about 7am.
I patiently waited two and half hours thinking its wings would open and I would be able to get a good photo of the colours - then it took off for the fourth time and I couldn't believe my luck as it had perched itself about 4ft off the ground. All my other photos were taken about 2ft above the ground and it was a bit of a nightmare for me to get down that low. So I grabbed my camera and ...oh NO ... a bird grabbed the lacewing!!!!!
Hmmm guess that is why it had been so close to the ground.

This pageant explores the theme of HOME as tribe, family, shared experience and ritual. It celebrates the human spirit, how we adapt to live in a variety of environments, how we make ourselves at home and how we shape and are shaped by the environment we find ourselves in.
Inishowen Carnival create a strange and colourful spiky world of inflatable plants and dwellings, a large spiky “vulture god” puppet, colourful flags, and angular, spiky, sparkly costumes
Inishowen Carnival Group is celebrating 26 years of carnival activity and has been taking part in the Dublin Parade for 22 of those years. The company is based near Malin Head on the beautiful Inishowen peninsula on the northern coast of Donegal.

Perfect example of what a local will pass by day after day without knowing the story tourists hear on some city tour tidbit. (Many of the Seattle streets in the Pioneer Square district today were considered the 2nd or 3rd floor when the city was founded: Much had to be rebuilt after the Great Seattle fire of 1889.)
It was such a nice afternoon I had to go down to one of my favorite places in town. Jack Poole Plaza, Vancouver, BC.
oh my goodness. my stream is a mess of diversity. In fact, i have no idea what to call this mess of photos. :P
anyway, this was taken in Berlin during a recent visit, where i met Caro and other people. This was an abandoned building that was taken over by artist of the creative sort. (I think it should be safe enough to call them creative artists) .. I don't have too much to say about it except that the short visit there redefined my understand of the creative arts.
