The Mercedes AMG A45 - doesn't it have a 'sharky' front end? Those skinny tyres on English roads would make a regular appointment with the chiropractor mandatory.

Near Weir Wood Reservoir

A tall evening primrose takes in the view. So many people never see a big sky, which is sad.

He loves a cardboard box

This is one of the shops that is marking Pride month with a colorful window display.

I won't upset proper chefs by calling this pesto.

A chunk of Parmesan, grated

A handful of walnuts

Sea salt

Lemon juice

Attacked with the stick blender till I got bored (so not long).

Looks terrible but tastes epic.

I first had Glühwein at the bottom of a particularly challenging ski slope.

Here is some mulled wine that was a welcome end to an afternoon of hobbling to the shops.

Glasgow is not stuck in the past and there are many modern buildings, clinging like limpets to the steep streets.

Black Combe turns to gold.

A standard base of onions. garlic, celery, and carrots. A handful of dried herbs rounds it off.

Costing up to €1.3 million it is not feasible to have an MRI scanner in every hospital. This one is mounted in a lorry that travels the country, chipping away at the patient list.

I had a scan last night and the staff were very kind and supportive. it's a noisy activity as the magnets move around one. and if you're worried about tight spaces it can be a tad worrying. but it's all good.

with luck they found my brain still works and the wiring, while odd, is intact.

May 4th means it's Star Wars day!

If you've ever been out with a Jedi or Star Wars fan, you won't forget it... or the date 😅

Banana Yoshimoto wrote this. Dealing with loss and love and other stuff, it was very readable and short enough for a single sitting.

Give it a go.

One of my kitchen timers lives in a mug. The cuteness of this monkey is out of the gate. Well, that's what I think.

I don't like kale on its own but just look at that color!

Just wandering about and this caught my eye.

The granite threshold to the beer cellar shows a couple hundred years' wear. The casks used to be wooden, but today they're mostly steel things.

Seven of England's ten most deprived areas are in the Blackpool area.

Storm Amy is currently battering the north west of England. Branches fly off trees and some roof slates have loosened and I listen to the rain dripping through the gaps.

I've never seen my barometer register such low pressure.

As predicted when I was a child, this is our new normal.

For some reason that I do not understand, UK is the biggest market for drophead or open top cars. Here they are, crewed by people who look better equipped to take on the South Pole than a gentle drive in the country. As they say up here, there's nowt so strange as folk.

On Moor Gate there is a row of former quarrymen's houses that are on an embankment above the road.. This airvent is at street level.

My neighbor's cat sometimes goes walkabout but comes back to guard the front door. Here he is today.

Sauteed for a few minutes before adding everything else.

Lancaster Priory was established in 1094 by Roger de Poitou. It was Benedictine. This doorway is a later construction. An octagonal stone font that was found in the garden suggests the Priory was built over an existing Saxon place of worship.

Raining outdoors but my washing line is indoors. The plants enjoy the humidity and I enjoy the routine.

The bookshelf is a shoe rack that I found in the street.

Giles Gilbert Scott was the principle architect of Battersea Power Station. Much later Frank Gehry set out this transformation and reuse of this icon of South London.

This seen in 2019.

Gilbert Scott also designed the K6 telephone box (1935).

Missing Takeo, T.

Statue outside the courthouse. A mediaeval knight.

Later the temperature backed off a bit. Excuse the dust, I just got back from work.

Ham cooked overnight in the slow cooker, with bay leaves, pink peppercorns, onion, garlic, on carrots and mushrooms.

Served on couscous with pickled radish, and carrots. With Dijon mustard.

Friday's soup for a crowd consisted of anything on special offer. The oranges added sweetness to the carrots. Red lentils and chickpeas for protein and thickness. Broccoli because it's pretty 😁
