Image taken for the trees on a beautiful day. I added it to the Instagram #5shotChallenge by @garethpon because it was perfect for a wicked flip! Lumiforms played a great role in adding light in the right places for abstract/illusion.

A deterrent device to remind passengers not to walk off the platform.

Another benchmark. This on the side of St John's Church, Lancaster.

Part of the survey and census of 1840.

I may get this as a tattoo sometime.

When i get anxious or overwhelmed i don't shut down; I clean. So last night i ended up cleaning the inside of the lab story cistern and accidentally broke off the ball of the ballcock. This morning i filed and gorilla glued the parts together and finished it with the hot glue gun. I "captured the moment" with this shot. It's a coping strategy.

The good news is that the loo is immaculate and the flush is even better than before 😁

An interesting book launch, perhaps. Being held at the Quakers' place, I don't expect there will be any fizz to make the evening go with a swing.

I was feeling a bit out of shape this morning (yes, 'round' is a shape, but I'm not talking about that). But my shirt cheered me up no end with its cheerful label =]

Looking out to Grange-over-Sands.

"Camerados is a social movement – which really just means that there are lots and lots of us (from Baltimore to Blackpool) who think being a bit more human is a good idea. The movement started in 2015 and the main thing you’ll see us doing is opening Public Living Rooms in our communities – welcoming, no-agenda places for folk to sit down with a cuppa, have a chat, and feel more human."

During the last fortnight of Lent statues and crucifixes are covered with purple cloth to mark a time of deeper reflection.

This altar and reredos were designed by Giles Gilbert Scot for the jubilee of 1909.

He's out there, enjoying the view.

As more people carry a camera with a phone attached, phone boxes are being removed.

Toast from my white flour. porridge oats and bran bread. Thanks to Veronica I added 50g of a very lively Greek yogurt. The bread tastes rich and the crumb is nice and airy. The toast is crisp outside and springy inside, with plenty of taste.

It was good to see the microfoam drag on the glass. For me, it's the right texture.

Among the bluebells was this spike of pink ones. I've always enjoyed the company of individualists.

Now cover it all with curly kale and steam for a few more minutes before adding stock.

Back from rehearsal, famished.

Raid the fridge ...

Bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato on wholemeal toast.

Ready in minutes.

Can't believe how lush those tomatoes are!

Mahlzeit 👍

The southern end of Morecambe Bay: Knott End-on-Sea. Look dead center on the horizon and you can make out the two power stations at Heysham.

There's not much here now, but up to the 1950s it was a popular holiday destination. Tastes change, and people seem to demand 'attractions' and warmer weather.

The butcher in the village has some awesome meat, much of it local. The cheesemonger was well-stocked. The hardware shop was full of all sorts of interesting things, and some were even useful. The breeze was sharp, even in July, so I found a charity shop and bought a nice sweater - and a load of photo printing paper, some bail jars and a barometer for my friend; an unexpected haul! Proceeds go to the local hospice, which is good. A pot of tea and a sandwich in Ralph's Cafe was just the restorative I needed. Too soon for fish and chips, tho' the chippy looked excellent. Tourism is not quite dead. What else is there to see, I wonder?

This mark was on the same wall at St John's church, but about 1.5 m above ground level.

The website, Trigpointing UK has pictures of many, many trigpoints, and this one appears to be unique, with that deeply-cut triangle going through the traditional benchmark.

So, while I will include this in my Banchmarks album, I believe this is a "3rd Order Trig Point" to use the terminology that's used to describe them.

Now, imagine some dude from Ordnance Survey rocking up to your house today and chiselling a mark on the wall ... that could lead to a fun exchange of words!

I think lava lamps have competition for generating pseudo random numbers.

It was more than 60°F (15°C) so it was a mandatory eat outside day.

A nineteenth century bronze cast of Giambologna's famous statue of Mercury.

The caduceus has two snakes, which is different from the one associated with medicine, which has only one snake.

Staring straight up at the elevator banks in a glass hotel.

After 30 minutes the machine beeps to say it's finished. Lid off and fluffy, separate grains of rice are revealed. Electricity cost 7p and so it was cheaper than using the hob. And the rice isn't burned!

Lunch at the market consisted of a sausage barm (local name for a bread roll) and cup of tea.

Locally produced sausages. Delicious simplicity.

I have acquired a new bread machine and this is the first product.

He'll not make old bones, is a saying that I heard once.

In other news, I found these memorials to Sheffield's cutlery industry yesterday for a tiny sum.

Probably wedding presents from long ago, kept in the drawer for high days and holidays.

Some say one should eat fish with two forks, others with just the fingers. Me, I've always liked fish knives.

Eat.

My kitchen is cold enough to hang meat. So, put another jumper on.

Yoga completed for the morning.

Air fryer eggs and soldiers, with grilled black pudding. A1 sauce in the side (knocks spots off that HP rubbish).

Coffee, and a citrus shot.

Still cold but not feeling so gloomy now 😁👍

After my apparently annual roast chicken I craved something lighter today.

Serrano ham wrapped around cream cheese and dates (Mazafati) and fried for a few minutes, with shredded pickled red cabbage and salad.

So much flavor in everything. Frugal. as befits Boxing Day celebrations.

I saw a soup on a restaurant menu that I thought would be fun to make and eat.

Are functioning phone boxes a thing of the past?

From my recently found fence.

I love the flaking layers of paint, like a rusty old trawler that's been hauled ashore.

After about 80 minutes we arrive at Stand 2 at the Grade II listed Preston Bus Station. It is 'tired' and needs some TLC applied, but the staff do well with the resources they have. There's a cafe, and the loos are clean. The electronic timetables are accurate and there are places to sit down while waiting. And there are no speakers playing music.

I like this place!

The hydrangeas approach the end of this year's glorious display. I wish I could embrace aging with the same grace.
