Straight from the Museo of the Ara Pacis, where expressions are literally carved in history and the right side is always the best profile. 😏
Who said only selfies make history? ✨

The domed ceiling of the Pantheon, Rome. The huge oculus is permanently open to the skies and lets in floods of light. At around lunchtime it hits the main door and I just happened to be there at the time. Hope you like it!
explore #12, thanks everyone!

By the time we got here, I was done. No sleep for over 24 hours, running on adrenaline and caffeine.. This was a drive by. We toured the colosseum at night and during the day

Interior view of the Lateran Baptistery, one of the first of its kind with roots in emperor Constantine's time (early 4th century) and according to some initially a part of the bathing facilities of the imperial palace.
Refurbished in 440, the Baptistery was restored and redecorated in the early 17th century. Its octagonal shape served as a blueprint for numerous baptisteries around the world.

Built in 30 AD by the Romans, this structure is the third largest amphitheater after the Colosseum in Rome. This still hosts crowds up to 15000 for music concerts and other events.
I'm a big fan of the movie Gladiator, if I'm not mistaken this is probably one of the internal passageway where gladiators and performers would have moved before entering the arena.
Bar Codes
A zebra's stripes act like an equine fingerprint - each individual’s pattern is unique. Foals recognize their mothers by the pattern of their stripes, as well as by scent and call.
Migration marvel
One of the most extraordinary phenomena in the natural world is the annual 1,800-mile migration of millions of zebra, blue wildebeest and other antelope between the Serengeti in Tanzania and Kenya’s Masai Mara in a constant search of food and water.
Speed demons
Zebras are very fast and can reach speeds of up to 65kmph when galloping across the plains. This is just fast enough to outpace predators such as lions. Foals can run with the herd within a few hours of birth.
Ancient horse-tigers
In Ancient Rome, Grevy’s zebra were trained to pull chariots at Roman circuses under the alias ‘hippotigris’ (‘horse-tiger’).

Sleeping over time, over the centuries. This child of ancient Rome in the room of the Capitoline museums dedicated to him, is dreaming for us too.

The Colosseum, or Flavian Amphitheatre, in Rome, seen through the light trails of a long exposure across the traffic of the Piazza del Colosseo. By bringing these two very different elements together, I was trying to emphasize the contrast between the ancient and modern worlds that is so much a part of everyday life in the "Eternal City."
