Dr. Challifour is a mathematical physicist (he told us that his first teaching job after he received his doctorate from Cambridge was in Princeton... before it went coed) who taught me vector calculus and real analysis. After marking and returning a particularly disappointing set of exams (mean: 57%, I, luckily, did very well), he spent a little bit of the class talking about how badly math is taught in America. This was one of the funnier moments.

Interesting how the GPS measured elevation suddenly popped up vs the map elevation and always remained above it for the rest of the hike. This is actually a reverse trace of the hike going down.
