Less alter ego and more Alter Umm. I suppose the gentlemen at Alter know that their company is called 'Other'....? Perhaps alter-umm is a special type of sp[lit personality where one half is very indecisive. ....

As an artist in photography, my philosophy is very simple. By simple I do not mean that my pictures do not reveal details, but that my photos have a very clear and distinctive subject matter. I have a range of different photos and each one is unique to itself. I enjoy taking pictures indoors and outdoors, giving my gallery a variety. I also enjoy pictures of nature and the beauty of the things we see on a daily basis.
I take my photos to hopefully please my audience, but one thing I realized as an artist is that people are not always going to like my work, and that is something I am going to have to deal with. Also, I take my photos because photography is pleasing to me. The pictures you take can really bring out your personality; I take my photos to show people more things about who I am as an artist. I take my photos by setting up different lighting scenarios, and either setting up my subjects or taking pictures of subjects that are already set up and enjoyable to the eye.
For my self-portrait project, I was to take two photos, one of a traditional me and one of an alter ego me. For my traditional photo, I took a picture of me in my bedroom, really simple, with my hair up and sweatpants and a shirt on. This is how people see me every day. I am really plain and simple, nothing much to me except my kindness and shyness. For my alter ego photo, I wore my hair down and put some makeup on, and only took a picture of half of my face. That shows that people only see half of the real me. One half of me is kind, shy, and plain and the other half is kind, crazy, and stylish.

Black and white with selective color applied to the distinctive eyes. The portrait image was taken outside in a wooded area, and the bird was sitting on a handler's arm. Some Photoshop magic was applied to give it a more "studio" appearance.
The owl's name is Qiqig and was rescued in central Illinois in January 2012 and transferred to the Sitka center in April 2012. It had an injured wing. It has been rehabilitated but will remain at the center due to the extent of its flying disability.
