Nach den vielen Grün- und Brauntönen der letzten Bilder heute zur Abwechslung für das Auge mal wieder etwas Blau im Stream. Die Aufnahme der Erdkröte nach dem ablaichen ist schon etwas älter, dieses Jahr habe ich die Laichwoche völlig verpasst weil sie wg. des wärmeren Wetters viel früher stattgefunden hat. Dass sich diese Zeiten so verschieben ist eine (neue) Schwierigkeit beim fotografieren von Tieren/Vögeln und macht das planen von Aufnahmen schwieriger wenn man von der Lokation entfernt ist.
After the many green and brown tones of the last pictures, today there is a bit of blue in the stream to make a change for the eyes. The photo of the common toad after spawning is older, this year I missed the spawning week completely because it took place much earlier due to the warmer weather. The fact that these times shift so much is a (new) difficulty when photographing animals/birds and makes planning shots more difficult when you are away from the location.

I'm not a religious man but after the weekend I'm now going to worship the star sign Aries after we named this location on the weekend.
This was taken a little later when it got completely dark and the three quarter moon illuminated the landscape.

Der Ring bestand meist aus Kork, wurde mit hellem Segeltuch bezogen und besaß charakteristische, olivgrün gestreifte Stoffbänder.

The Alter Real is a strain of the Lusitano which is bred only at the Alter Real State Stud in Portugal. The stud was founded in 1748 by the Portuguese royal family to provide horses for the national riding academy and royal use. The Portuguese School of Equestrian Art (Escola Portuguesa de Arte Equestre) uses these horses exclusively in their performances. The strain was developed from 300 Iberian mares imported from Spain in 1747. When Napoleon invaded Spain in the early 19th century, the Alter Real strain deteriorated due to the introduction of Arabian, Thoroughbred, Spanish-Norman and Hanoverian blood. However, in the 19th and 20th centuries the strain was re-established with the further introduction of Spanish blood.
In the early 20th century, with the 1910 revolution that ended the monarchy, the Alter Real strain faced extinction, as records were burned, stallions were gelded and the stud discontinued. Ruy d'Andrade, a specialist in Iberian horse breeds, saved two stallions and several mares, and was able to re-establish the strain, turning his herd over to the Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture in 1942, when the stud was reopened.The Portuguese state has maintained ownership of the stud, and continues to produce horses for use in high school dressage.

The light streaming throught the white and yellow stained glass acted as a "spotlight" to hightlight the Monastery's Alter. This is a combination of two photos. One for the Stained Glass and the other for the rest of the Alter area. I hand blended these two photos together using Photoshop.
Mit ihren originalen Lüftermotoren hat sich die 232 280 schon von weither angekündigt und zieht nun schwer arbeitend ihren langen, aus Bludenz kommenden Redbull-Containerzug an der Kies-Entladestelle zwischen Kressbronn und Langenargen vorbei. Ziel des Zuges ist Hamburg, von wo aus die Container in alle Welt verschifft werden. Eine der Serienbild-Auslösungen passt zufällig so, dass das Tor zum Entladebunker durch die kurze Lücke zwischen der Lok und dem ersten Container angestrahlt wird.
Vorwärts in die Vergangenheit: der Fußgänger im Matrosenanzug ist mein alter Herr.

A view of valley in the distance from a mountain ridge that is near Utah Lake. I hiked from where I had parked the truck/ALU-CAB camper to get to this spot before sundown. To my surprise, I discovered a large alter made of flat rocks. Who knows how long it has been there... perhaps from the time of Noah? Adam and Eve? Because I was hiking alone, I was intent on making it back to my overland truck before sundown to avoid possible issues with wild animals (mountain lions, bears)... but I wish I had stayed longer.

The Macro Mondays theme for today, 8/16, is paper art. This is what is known as an altered book. The artist has glued together the pages of an actual book and then carved out a space for valuables to be secreted away. In the photostream is a picture of the entire secret space.
This one choice has dramatic shadows.

Photo manipulation the old fashioned way "al mano". This is SOOC as I'm on texturizing lockdown, but I admit it - - I did manipulate the process. The water was too calm and conveyed a perfect and therefore boring image of the tree trunks, so I dipped my hand in and created a strategic ripple. Not to be compared with Photoshop in terms of effects of course, but a whole lot less time consuming :))
