Former Pacific Hwy alignment through Murwillumbah bypassed with the opening of the Chinderah - Yelgun deviation in 2002. The old North Coast Railway crosses at this point. The railway saw its last train about the same time that the road was bypassed.

Before I started moving the frame, the dropouts were reasonably well aligned, but hardly perfect. I actually got the alignment better than this in the end.

Comp304995_c0_seq1 has best hit with Drosophila Nf1 and comp475299_c0_seq1 with Human NF1. Asterisk(*) indicate sequence identity. B. Phylogenetic tree using Human NF1 and NF2, Drosophila Nf1 and Merlin as well as Nautilus and squid NF1/Nf1 contigs. Note that Nautilus and squid NF1 contigs, and Nautilus and squid Nf1 contigs cluster together. Bar indicates phylogenetic distance.

An experimental scan of a tree core, as my scanner has a higher resolution than the one at work. This is the end of the wooden carrier, the core itself is glued onto it and currently facing downwards.
It worked pretty well; I couldn't scan at 4800dpi unfortunately, as I don't have enough RAM.. it was fine at 3200 though. Below is a sample of the scan - sharpened slightly, and oversampled (scaled down by 50%).
Leaving Canada, cruising across the Strait of Juan de Fuca with a wind nasty enough to drive most indoors, I saw this shot lining up and waited until it was nearly perfect.
