An experimental scan of a tree core, as my scanner has a higher resolution than the one at work. This is the end of the wooden carrier, the core itself is glued onto it and currently facing downwards.
It worked pretty well; I couldn't scan at 4800dpi unfortunately, as I don't have enough RAM.. it was fine at 3200 though. Below is a sample of the scan - sharpened slightly, and oversampled (scaled down by 50%).
Leaving Canada, cruising across the Strait of Juan de Fuca with a wind nasty enough to drive most indoors, I saw this shot lining up and waited until it was nearly perfect.
My wife and I take an annual trip to the SC coast every new years. From my balcony I waited till just the right moment to capture this fishing boat heading north up the coastline. The sun was glistening on a pretty calm ocean that day.

Situated in the Gariwerd(Grampians) ranges in the Grampians National Park, the Brambuk Living Cultural Centre acts as a cultural focus for the surrounding Koori communities and visitors to the area. The design reflects the totems of the five Koori communities who have links with Gariwerd. Sited beside a creek in the centre of a spectacular valley, the undulating roof line makes reference to the ranges and to the shape of the Djab wurrung’s and Jardwadjali’s totemic symbol, the cockatoo. The building’s alignment concentrates and extends the powerful surrounding landscape..

Generally speaking, when you see a concrete road branch off of a modern paved road, the concrete road is the previous alignment.
Girl meets boy in a grotesque way
In this design, I represent a grotesque encounter between a girl who meets a boy. The two shapes in the middle represent the two. Both try to harmonize with each other and in some cases they do, which can be recognized by the interlocking of the two forms. But on the other hand, you can see that the two do not harmonize because they are too different. The blue shape is sharp in some places where the pink shape is round, which is why they repel. The shapes around it, form a small narrow bubble around the two, which represents the "holding" to the relationship. The idea that it could work forms the bubble, but the big differences lead to it decaying. The triangles show that they want to workout, which is why they go in one direction, but they fall apart because they do not harmonize. And the colors are cold as the romance. They imagine of their romance darkens and seems impossible, which is why the two shapes in the middle also lose color.

I wanted the hub to face my direction when I'm on the bike, and to also be facing up when the valve stem is at the bottom. A little trial and error before lacing up the wheel, and I got the alignment how I wanted it.
