Use the image on the positioning plate to see where you should place your paper. See how it flips up? But the white circular pins in the bottom part of the plate keep it in the same place.

Lay the positioning plate flat and figure out where you want to place your paper. You can also mark it using tape, or the tab guides that come with your gocco.

This was actually taken by my friend Shelomie, but she doesn't have a Flickr and I thought it was pretty cool. I was too busy pointing out the alignment to Weronika.

I sure wish amateur photographers could sign some sort of waiver to be able to get up closer to the action. Of course I know why that is not possible in the modern world, but I can wish!

In an effort to align with the USAID Digital Strategy and recognize USAID Missions, Bureaus and partners that are empowering countries in a digital age, USAID launched the 2020 Digital Development Awards (the Digis), the third round of these awards. The Digis recognize and celebrate USAID-funded projects and activities that use digital technology to sustain open, secure, and inclusive digital ecosystems in order to improve measurable development and humanitarian-assistance outcomes. After receiving over 140 applications from USAID Missions around the world, five winners were selected for the 2020 Digital Development Awards, including USAID/Indonesia: Human Resources for Health in 2030 (HRH2030) Program.

HRH2030 won for strengthening the human resources for health information system and its ecosystem to provide real-time quality data for strategic use, while also supporting policy development that address challenges in the health workforce and contributing to better public health outcomes overall.

“Quality data is amazing,” says Dr. Ani Ruspitawati, head of the Health Resources Division at Jakarta’s Provincial Health Office (PHO). Dr. Ani’s office oversees 5,503 health facilities in Indonesia’s bustling capital city, Jakarta.

The facilities -- known locally as puskesmas -- serve about 10 million people. And just like doctors need data about their patients to provide the right treatment, the PHO needs data on its health workforce to improve the quality of care at puskesmas.

Equipped with good data about nurses, specialists, doctors, and other health professionals, the PHO can make smart decisions regarding everything from licensing and credentials to assigning health workers to puskesmas based on local needs. “Data is needed for decision-making. If the data is inaccurate, then the decisions will be wrong,” Dr. Ani explains.

But when COVID-19 struck -- with Jakarta as the nation’s hotspot -- the PHO needed well-organized, up-to-date data in order to mount an effective response. / Photo: Des Syafrizal for USAID

When the moon is in the Seventh House

And Jupiter aligns with Mars

Then peace will guide the planets

And love will steer the stars

The alignment of the four planets happens only once every 50-100 years, and very rarely on Friday the 13th. The last time these planets were observed together was in October 1910. The alignment will be visible each morning just before sunrise at least for a week.

For greater accuracy when aligning a vice use a dial gauge indicator.

Use the steel pin method first, then tighten the holding bolt where the dial gauge is set up, but only slightly, so that when you tap the vice it will swivel rather than move parallel.

Set the dial gauge to zero, travers the width of the vice jaw, and tap the vice lightly to zero the dial gauge, travers back, repeat until the vice is aligned, align the fixed jaw of the vice. Check again after you have tightened the vice bolts. Video here:

After receiving over 140 applications from USAID Missions around the world, five winners were selected for the 2020 Digital Development Awards, including USAID/Pakistan: Pakistan Small and Medium Enterprise Activity (SMEA).

USAID/Pakistan SMEA won for helping to transform the country’s economy by addressing the structural deficits and inequalities faced by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the digital ecosystem. They achieved this by offering information and communications technology (ICT)-enabled solutions and helping businesses harness digital potential through a service provider network and overall regulatory reform.

Vceela, a USAID/Pakistan SMEA grantee, is a village-to-world marketing model allowing artisans from smaller communities in Pakistan to connect with global markets without needing digital skills. Vceela works on the ground to understand the unique realities of craft makers and offers real-time design and technology consultation to artisans.

Ayena Waseem is one such artisan who makes lacquer wood art. She learned it from her mother and father, who inherited the rare skill from generations of family members before them. In fact, the decorative handicraft, involving intricate designs carefully carved into wooden objects, is a family heritage dating back 500 years, and Ayena wants to preserve it for the next generation.
