I think that whenever I'm about to take a shot I get tunnel vision. I think I'm closer to people than I actually am. It's the adrenaline, excitement, and anticipation of getting that close - it makes subjects seem closer than they are and I end up taking the picture before I'm as close as I want to be.

If it’s Autumn, it must be time for the Rail Head Treatment Train. In a pleasant change from the usual pair of filthy class 66s, 37422 leads 37558 “Avro Vulcan XH558” away from Ais Gill on the Settle – Carlisle line on 15 October 2018 with the Kingmoor DRS – Kingmoor DRS RHTT working which started on 14 October and covered a route from Carlisle to Carlisle via the Cumbrian Coast, the WCML and the S&C.

66007 working 4S93, the 14:56 Milford West Sidings - New Cumnock lets the forces of nature take over on the down hill section towards Carlisle after taking on the 'long drag' from Settle Junc to Ais Gill summit. With 21 empty HTA coal hoppers in tow the driver has to manage the brakes to stop the train getting out of control and going above the maxium permitted line speed of 60mph.
