Have a great day and weekend HFDF

This might be my favourite creation of famed local artist Douglas Coupland. This tower was built in 1958 and its placement on the corners of Davie and Denman gives the residents a fabulous view of English Bay.

What a horrible terror attack in Nice last night, and one there is virtually no protection against.

I love Nice, I spent happy days there. Of course one is out on the Promenade des Anglais on Bastille Day when there.

Berlin is as shocked as the rest of the world. Helpless gestures like this are all one can think of on this day of pain to show support and sympathy. So sad. With you in my thoughts.

I first found this spot too "cliché" to set down my tripod. There are way too many pictures like this out there, not just online, but hanging on walls everywhere around the world :) And then I realized...

First, there is no better way to practice my new found passion for night photography than comparing my shots to amazing photographers' who spent hours at the very same place, in the same spirit.

Second, I realized that there is no such thing as "cliché cliché" in photography...every capture has a different story, its own momentum, mood, lights and most importantly...the person behind. This is what makes this passion so incredible.

We all share the same geeky love for photography, so I am happy to share the same spots with you all from time to time :)

This photo of the Chribska waterfall in Bohemian Switzerland is not current. It wasn't even made in the fall but in February of last year.

Luckily you can't tell from the scene and so I can easily incorporate it into the autumn pictures.

The two-stage waterfall is not particularly spectacular with a total height of only around 3 meters. Instead, it is a small but beautiful piece of jewelry here in the middle of the forest.

Maybe I'll drive by there again in the next few days and see what else can be photographed here.

I think it's nice to take photos from the past from time to time. This reminds me of the beautiful places I have already been and inspires me to visit some of them again.

Good morning everyone. You guessed it. Wednesday again so you get yet another pic of a female Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris). Sorry about that.

As a reminder for those of you that have never seen one of these tiny birds in person they are about as big as your thumb and weigh approximately 4 gm.

PS...so you'll know, I saw another adult male just late yesterday. Second one in a week, but as with the last one I saw I wasn't able to get a pic. Then again, it could be the same male.

Thank you for stopping by...and I hope you're having a truly nice week.
