Josh & Lindsay live in this fantastic A-frame house along the Willamette River in a very woodsy part of West Linn, Oregon.
I was dying of envy.
Sand can be enjoyed in other places than the beach right? So come to the desert!
Here is a mid-century styled building loosely based on a A-Frame design. Most of the source material I found suggests most of these were and are still found in the USA. I went with a white design rather than a log cabin feel and chose to partly bed it into the scenery which I saw in a few examples. I've tried to incorporate some design features of the 1950's/1960's here. I plan to make a standalone interior room of the era at some point in the near future.
Cheers!
Interior of the Feskekörka (Fish Church).
It might look like a place of worship from the outside, but this A-framed local landmark was purpose-built as a place to buy fish.
The innovative design, which did away with interior walls and columns, allowed plenty of space for fishermen to display their catch at the auctions that took place here throughout the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries.
Since 1910 Gothenburg’s fish auction has taken place at Fiskhamnen, a couple of kilometres west, and over the past hundred years or so Feskekörka has become considerably more consumer-friendly.
Today, traders here sell beautifully fresh seafood from counters running the length of the building, either to take home and cook or ready prepared to eat straight away.

Little Woodham -"A" frame buildings
These magnificently authentic "A" frame houses and buildings can be found all over the world.
They are usually assembled by the community. The huge A-frames are made in advance and simply lifted into place by human power alone. The frames are erected and completed in a day when the community join in.
The big brick fireplaces and chimney located in the centre of the building ensure the heat is retained in a big mass and then released into the whole living area.

Opened in 1968 as part of Der Wienerschnitzel chain. Been a number of different restaurants since then. Viking Burger opened in 2014 and moved to a new location in 2019.
A-frame restaurants like this one used to be all over my area...the Big Chief lives up to its name as the last survivor.

Grime-encrusted ex-ROD/LNER Robinson O4 2-8-0 63702 – with an equally-grimy WD 2-8-0 on the right - at Retford Thrumpton loco shed, in 1963.
The O4 had entered service with the War Department in July 1918, and passed to the LNER in 1924. It was withdrawn in September 1964, and scrapped in March 1965. One example has survived in the UK, and there are three still existing in Australia..
The shed closed in January 1965, and today (2026) the site is occupied by offices..

Earlier this week we had some good surf and really cool and unusual atmospheric conditions. A low pressure system had passed offshore and left us with a good swell. But when I made it to the beach I wasn't expecting to see such cool weather. I was so enthralled that I easily took more pics of the sky and clouds than the surfing :) The clouds, the light, the sun ray, in addition to the surf, made for a really memorable day.

From Wikipedia:
The Merlin Entertainments London Eye (commonly the London Eye, or Millennium Wheel) is a giant 135-metre (443 ft) tall Ferris wheel situated on the banks of the River Thames in Central London, England.
It is the tallest Ferris wheel in Europe, and the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom, visited by over 3.5 million people annually.[1] When erected in 1999, it was the tallest Ferris wheel in the world, until surpassed first by the 160 m (520 ft) Star of Nanchang in 2006, and then the 165 m (541 ft) Singapore Flyer in 2008. It is still described by its operators as "the world's tallest cantilevered observation wheel" (as the wheel is supported by an A-frame on one side only, unlike the Nanchang and Singapore wheels).[2]
