I arrived at Marshall Point Light just as the sun was setting. The colours in the sky were amazing, and I couldn't stop shooting from various angles. This is my favourite shot from the evening, taken with a longer exposure and a tripod to capture the starburst of the light.

I've been driving past this building since I was a kid. Finally stopped to grab a shot, although the light wasn't quite right because of those shadows from the trees behind me on the roofline. Oh well... can't have everything.
Plans to construct a senior college to close the gap between the synodical junior college and the beginning of professional study in the theological seminary at Fort Wayne, Indiana were approved at the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synodical convention in Houston, Texas in 1953. The entire campus, consisting of a total of 25 college buildings plus faculty housing, was designed by Eero Saarinen with the landscape design by Dan Kiley and opened in 1957 as the Concordia Senior College. The tile mosaics in the Wyneken Hall were created by Siegfried Reinhardt. The Seminary is not on the National Register.

I love my tiny A. I’ve had apartments bigger than my house, but I love where I live now most. It has 960 sq feet, two bedrooms, and one bathroom. I miss having a bathtub, a garage, and a normal sized closet. I have a lot of art, but no straight walls to hang it. But I love the coziness of this triangle. I miss more windows for my plant addiction, yet love my wooden beamed cave of a bedroom to sleep in. I live on a fast road, but look out onto fields and forest. Sometimes I stand in my driveway at night in awe of the clear starry skies and silent surroundings. I’ve found a sweet spot to call home.

There are a few beers here you need to try, or why not just try them all? After all isn’t that what visiting new craft breweries is all about? You never know which beers your are going to love the most.

We went out as a group of four this time, lacking Flickrless Doug and LaRizzoloCa so we replaced them with Rizzolo and the staple skazama and threshold.
See set description for time (usual 120" to 360") differences.
We couldn't get inside the gates at night, it was locked up. So we went to this alternate location on the walkway after some bushwacking.
Go check out their (skazama, rizzolo*, threshold) stuff. You should be able to check out our work as a collective soon here, and in slide show format. Unfortunately, we were missing La Rizzoloca and Douglass due to scheduling conflicts.

Daymer Bay
Another shot of the fishing vessel Serenity V on the beach at Daymer Bay in the Camel Estuary. I have information in the comments of my earlier upload (Thank you John) that she left Stornaway on the Isle of Lewis last week for a 4000 mile journey to Ghana. Calling in at Padstow for reasons unknown, possibly to take on fuel and supplies.
She is now on her way again.

Merriam KS is southwest suburban Kansas City MO. This IHOP used to have the cavernous vaulted ceilings, of course, but like many IHOPS, utilities costs forced the installation of a flat ceiling.
The sign has only two curlycues to remind us of yesteryear. It has lost the tapered light fixture on top, the 3 or 4 spindles on the right side, all the "Swiss Chalet" touches of the originals.
UPDATE Feb 2022: Despite being very busy, particularly late at night, and requiring a security guard/off-duty cop, this ceased operations as an IHOP in about 2015, and has been operating under locally owned family chain, Pegah's. UPDATE

Here is a mid-century styled building loosely based on a A-Frame design. Most of the source material I found suggests most of these were and are still found in the USA. I went with a white design rather than a log cabin feel and chose to partly bed it into the scenery which I saw in a few examples. I've tried to incorporate some design features of the 1950's/1960's here. I plan to make a standalone interior room of the era at some point in the near future.

The Whataburger A-frame debuted in 1961. This was their 36th location and one of a handful of remaining A-frames. It has been vacant for many years. Info from RoadsideArchitecture.com.
