signe d'affection ou de sympathie chez les jeunes burundais,...ces gestes contrastent avec les dernières lois homophobes votées en 2009 par le parlement burundais ...
I picked up the Color Affection pattern the other day and immediately had to cast on. I had these 3 skeins of madtosh merino light in "Copper Penny", "Olivia", and "Nutmeg" and they work wonderfully together! I'm midway through the first section (with just the MC) and it's flying by. Hoping to get to the second section by this evening.
Oh, and I'm adding the yo at the beginning of the round and dropping it the next round to keep the edge a little bit looser.
Affection is responsible for nine-tenths of whatever solid and durable happiness there is in our lives.

We saw this display of affection for full one hour. A very memorable sighting indeed.

The lanterns set themed at the Gardens by the Bay for River Hongbao 2024 to celebrate Chinese New Year festival.
A bunch of miniature carnations depicting your deep, deep love. A miniscroll declaring your affection with a ring tied to it. (For the poetic-at-heart, how about a romantic quote from Shakespeare in the scroll?) A simple "Will you marry me?" in the hand drawn heart card. What else do you need?
In Chinese language, the word meaning "thoughtfulness" literally means "small heart". A small heart that attends to the smallest details, and you'll never, ever overlook a tiny bit of her feelings. I always like it. Don't you like it, too?

Taken at the Beaulieu Road Pony Sales. We were there whilst the ponies were arriving and left before the auction. Sadly many of the foals sale for just a few pounds.
39/113 Affection
The Commoners of the New Forest have always sought to control the sale of their stock through sales in the forest. Sales of semi feral and handled stock have taken place at Beaulieu Road for for over 60 years. Originally, the site was on the opposite side of the road to the current sale yard,
Sometime after the second world war the yard moved to its current location and the basis of today’s sales started to develop. The yard itself also grew in size with the changes in demand and underwent several partial rebuilds and refurbishments under the auspices of the New Forest Pony Breeding & Cattle Society.
The Commoners Defence Association and the New Forest Pony Breeding and Cattle Society have now joined forces to start a new organisation, the New Forest Livestock Society with a view to concentrating on the sales and their survival. The initial set up of the new society was made with equal numbers of nominations of members from each of the two founder organisations with an independent chairman.
The NFLS was formed, and since 2001 has gone from strength to strength becoming a company limited by guarantee and forming close working relations with the New Forest Trust who manage its lease with the Forestry Commission The NFLS now run the sale yard, provide stewards for the sales and keep a maintenance schedule in place with the sales run in association with Southern Counties Auctioneers.

Easter is a feast of joy and gladness that unites the entire community in common celebration. For three days the community celebrates to the sound of bells and to the singing of spring songs—vesnianky . Easter begins with the Easter matins and high liturgy, during which the pasky (traditional Easter breads) and pysanky and krashanky (decorated or colored Easter eggs) are blessed in the church. Butter, lard, cheese, roast suckling pigs, sausage, smoked meat, and little napkins containing poppy seeds, millet, salt, pepper, and horseradish are also blessed. After the matins all the people in the congregation exchange Easter greetings, give each other krashanky, and then hurry home with their baskets of blessed food (sviachene).
The krashanky and pysanky (Easter eggs) are an old pre-Christian element and have an important role in the Easter rites. They are given as gifts or exchanged as a sign of affection, and their shells are put in water for the rakhmany (peaceful souls); finally, they are placed on the graves of the dead or buried in graves and the next day are taken out and given to the poor.
During the Easter season in Ukraine the cult of the dead is observed. The dead are remembered on Maundy Thursday and also during the whole week after Easter (called the ‘Week of the Nymphs’ [navskyi tyzhden], especially on the first Sunday following Easter Sunday (called Khomyna [Thomas's] or Providna [Seeing-off]).
For the commemoration of the dead (provody) the people gather in the cemetery by the church, bringing with them a dish containing some food and liquor or wine, which they consume, leaving the rest at the graves.
I took this photo at the entrance of a Kiev cemetery the day the Ukrainians honor their deceased family members (April 11). These "Babushkas" were selling very colorful flowers to passers-by heading to the tombs with a basket of food in the hand to lunch on the tomb of their beloved one.
