Aether; a neo-classic space hoverbike inspired by 'Red Planet'.

Since I built the Tesseract, I've wanted to build the other Infinity Gems/Stones as well and the Aether seemed like the easier choice for this year.

It's tiled on the top and bottom and pops open easily to switch out the 9v battery that runs the extremely bright light inside.

2 down, 4 to go...

Listening to the audio version of 'A Short History Of Everything', I've been struck by the way we cling to ideas so arcane and wonderful, but also fanciful and flawed. The building of evidence that counters such ideas only serve to make us cling to them more steadfastly, like limpets to the hull of a ship.

The belief in luminiferous aether allowed the physicists of the time to account for how light travelled across space. The name literally means the transmitting of light...and believing light only existed in wave form, the aether provided a medium in which the light waves could oscillate their way around empty space.

More than just a quaint Victorian idea, to me it shows how limited our understanding of the world, the universe and ourselves can be. But what a thought.

This is how I imagine the aether would looked as it pulsed and shimmered in our skies. Vast aeons of the stuff.

**this image was captured using the panoramic tool on my iPhone. And then processed on my laptop. All the images I post at the mo seem to be made like this.

I'm on holidays and on the road, so you won't see many comments from me, sorry. I'll visit as opportunities arise.

Freight Runner sleeping quarters cutaway section

.

This model is an add-on to my cockpit cutaway section I built in September 2023. I‘ve had plans for more spaceship interiors since then, and this was one of the first ideas on the list.

There’s some nice stickers and details on here, and the ALIEN inspiration is becoming more apparent. I also played around with some different lighting, to get a really isolated and cold feel.

I‘ll be uploading some standalone pictures of the new module later on.

On year 1872, Dr Thaddeus Von Shrapnell invented the Trans-Aether Steam Rocket and succeded in the first interplanetary trip to Mars. During this travel, he accidentally discovered the martian inhabitants and the Steam-o-lite.

Upon his return, the Prussian empire appropriated his invention and ordered execution of his friend, Professor Digginson.

This threw him into a deep depression and a fierce hatred for the Earth and its inhabitants. Now, he's preparing his return...

Another loh hero... I can't stop making them! I think I might have a problem.

I'll be uploading my own take on Brick Tailor's awesome Fairytale soon... Right after I find that blasted eye patch head.

Pierre Verne, the daring younger brother of the famed Jules, embarked on his own extraordinary journey above the clouds in his magnificent airship, the Aetherion. While Jules explored the depths of the ocean, Pierre’s sights were set on the heavens. With brass wings and whirring gears, the Aetherion soared across the sky, always trying to reach the horizon. From the icy peaks of the Himalayas to the endless expanse of the Sahara, Pierre’s aerial odyssey took him over the most breathtaking landscapes, where he discovered hidden cities in the clouds and uncharted realms untouched by man.
