Standing at the roof of Shogran .... "Paya".
Hey guys ...... I'm back from Naran after a thrilling & adventerous tip of my life.
It was not less than a Roller Coaster ride.
It was my first trip to that part of the world (Naran, Lake Saiful Malook, Shogran Sari & Paya). I think the road condition to Naran is never so good (from Balakot onwards), mostly it is underconstruction due to land slides in every summer season.
On first day, at the start of my journey i received SMS from a friend that there is a huge land-slide at a place 'Malakandi' (about 2 hours drive to Naran), but we (self & wife) decided to keep traveling by PTDC Bus hoping that the road will be cleared when we will reach there (coz it was about 9 to 10 hours drive for Naran). After Mansehra, we stopped and waited 3 times to get road cleared from land-slides and construction of road.
Just before sunset we reached at 'Malakandi' and the road was still blocked and stones were rolling down too. FOW workers stopped road clearing job untill next day due to evening. Now we were stucked with hundreds of other people going to Naran .....!!!
There was a hotel nearby, but it was not enough to cater the 100s of dishearted tourists ......... we decided to cross the area off the road but from the furious Kunhar river .... that was a big risk and challange coz the river was at high tide and the water was chilling like anything. When we saw people, young n old, male n female with kids crossing the river (not accross but beside one bank) ..... we also gathered our courage and with the name of Allah crossed the river. There was another problem waiting for us at other side which was conveyance ... lolz
After about 1 hour's wait we finally got a ride to Naran and reached there at 11:00pm.
That was the real Start of our tour..............
2nd day was raining all day and it was very cold, the temperature was around 5 - 10C and we stayed at hotel room until afternoon when rain stopped. In the afternoon we could not go any far but we did walk around Naran town.
3rd day was clear and shining, we hired a jeep for Lake Saiful Maluk from Naran and after 45 minutes steep & bumpy ride on the rocky mountains we reached at the breath taking site of Lake Saiful Maluk ..... You never know how quickly time passes there, we wished to stay there for all day but we only spent 3 hours because our plan was to reach Shogran before evening. We enjoyed boat ride and walked on the glaciers beside the lake.
According to plan, we reached back to Naran and after lunch headed to Shogran to see Sari & Paya, so by the evening we reached Shogran. When we reached Malakandi "the land sliding area" the road was cleared by FWO workers but land was still sliding and small rocks were rolling down after small intervals, while crossing the sliding area a stone hit our Van but we all were safe. By the evening we reached Shogran and find a room in a hotel. After reaching Shogran we learnt that the road was again blocked at Malakandi due to land slide ..... this time we were lucy that we had a nerrow escape from that place.........
On 4th day, we went to Siri & Paya and saw beautiful panoramic snow covered peaks, like Musa ka Musala, Malika Perbat and Makra Peak.
After that excursion we packed for home and reached Islamabad in the night.
From this tour, we learnt that if you are out for enjoyment, you should also get ready for any unforeseen adventure or challange and face it boldly .... "nothing is bigger than human courage".
I am thankful to all my friends & family who prayed for our safe return during the journey.
This shot was taken from the very top of one of the numerous chalkstone rocks which are so typical for this area and large parts of the south coast of Thailand. The climb was adventerous and so was the way down, using vines and roots to manage the steep way. Hardly ever has a bath in a lake been as refreshing as it was when I was done with my expedition to the top.
While Eva and I were driving around to the locations to get photos she was talking about her world travels and meeting people. I told her I thought that was pretty brave and adventerous not really knowing people she would meet up with. About then we pulled up to this remote building and I said "that's where we'll do our photos". She said "are you going to kill me and leave my body out here?" I said "nope", and that was good enough for her :)
I think, and Eva agrees, that you get a pretty good idea of what makes up a person from their photos and it is a wonderful window into their lives and their personality. Another great testimony for Flickr and the cool peeps who are on here!

This is Cyrus and Julie, his pet alligator - and a very alive Julie I might add. Cyrus found Julie when she was a tiny, tiny baby and without him rescuing her, she had little hope for survival. Cyrus is a real Cajun with that fabulous accent that sounds like warm molasses. He is a virtual walking wealth of knowledge about the bayou and the inhabitants that live there. He only spoke French until he went to school. If you saw the IMAX "Hurricane on the Bayou" you saw Julie and Cyrus featured in the film. I had the privilege of getting to know Cyrus, Terry his lovely wife, their children and grandchildren when I was working on a book on New Orleans after meeting them on my first swamp tour. I have eaten fresh red fish caught by Cyrus cooked to perfection on the grill. I have gone shrimping with them in the evening on their shrimp boat and have spent many hours sitting in the swing on their porch enjoying their company and playing with their dog, Spririt. I must confess that I have never held Julie. She lives in the whirlpool in their backyard and was brought out for the Swamp tour visitors to touch and for the adventerous to hold. Meeting such wonderful people as Cyrus and Terry make being a photographer (albeit a part time photographer) such a pleasure. Through the lens of the camera you see the world differently and when you put the camera down, you have the opportunity to move from being an observer to a participant. This image appeared in the book "New Orleans" that I did with writer and New Orleans native, Jan Arrigo.

Let's get emotional girls to all wear mood rings. I had too much fun with this. The would have been title is from Relient K. I think this is the perfect description of a typical girls day or some of our hours :-p
This wedding season has definitely unfolded some exciting times for me. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with adventerous couples who have been willing to follow my creative ideas resulting in some of my best signature work. Keep tuned in for more as there is plenty coming your way :)

bunny's_pony really is an adventerous fellow - he decided he fancied a piercing as his first body modification at rah rah's after admiring her well placed adornments - rah rah suggested he start with his ear or maybe his nose - but bunny's_pony said these were tame and he wanted to start with his guiche - he was very brave but won't be riding any motorbikes for a week or two
It is definitely good to see Mount Kinabalu and be greeted by the fresh and cool morning air, here in Kinabalu Pine Resort at Kundasang. Around 10 am after breakfast we pushed off to Kota Kinabalu.

Can of turmeric of unknown date - I'm not sure if it tastes all right, but I'll leave that for the more adventerous...
A few brave souls ventured pretty far out on the ice, well past my comfort limit. More power to them.

Today was a day of many first for me, my first Engagment Shoot and my first beach set. Kory & Christian wanted their shoot at La Jolla Beach in San Diego. I quickly realized the beach can be a rather difficult setting for a photoshoot. Some problems we ran into, VERY busy. There were TONS of people there for it being a thursday morning shoot, which made it difficult to find a secluded area to shoot that had nice scenery as well. Secondly, the wind was a MAJOR problem it knocked over my strobes quite a bit which usually happends but it also played Havoc on Christians hair which was a HUGE bummer for me because i lost a lot of great shots due to her hair being in her face =( aside from that it was also an adventerous day. If you've visted the beach before you know it has alot of clifs to which we climbed and hiked through to get to some pretty sweet spots which was alot of fun doing. but not so fun when your carrying almost 60 pounds of equipment but all in all a GREAT learning expirience and i was glad to share it with them both.
With Lough Lannagh partially frozen on New Years day the swans kept to the unfrozen parts of the lake, but some of the ducks were more adventerous and like this one ventured for a walk on the ice. Differnet strokes for different folks, even in nature!
Due to a severe case of 'Summer Student Lazyitus' and part time employment; it’s pictures from the past getting their time in the spotlight as i havent been very adventerous at all over the past few weeks.
Nearly 2 months back the whole nation pinned their hopes on the over-paid and under-worked football players of the country to get us a world title. Nevermind.
I seriously cannot believe that the season of summer is like, almost over. Where did it go?
This week so far has been nothing but a lesson. So i'll admit it. This summer wasn't exactly the best. What I considered a vacation was nothing more than a typical buisness trip. I lost a handfull of people to sickness and diseases, and work took over most of my days (even though I absolutley love it). I really did feel guilty spending my days inside sleeping off the stress, instead of being my adventerous self.
Hopefully next year will be better.
But for now, all I can do is pray.

"Exceeds beyond mediocity
Very outgoing, charming and funny
Has a smooth way of talking
His feelings get hurt easily
God upholds him and keeps him true
Tries to be a man of his word
Always moving - never at rest
He learns fast - quick to action
To remain adventerous and daring"
An epitaph where damning was done by faint praise. It sounds like a parole officer's report of which the mother was so proud she had the words engraved on his tomb. What more can one say than "exceeds beyond mediocrity"? How far beyond mediocrity? And while he "tries to be a man of his word," how successful was he?
Lots and lots of public light buses. This shot taken in Yuen Long in the New Territories. Most of these minibuses are Toyota Coasters and some are driven in what be termed an adventerous manner.
went down to the beach tonight, witnessed a pretty nice sunset, and spent some time playing with my instruments. one of these days ill meet someone who enjoys being in front of the camera and being creative and adventerous.. 'til then, i'll just settle for me, which drastically limits my abilitty to shoot many of the ideas i have.... for example, there's no way you're gonna see a pic of me in a white victorian style play dress out in a wooded grove with a bar stool and balloons... i need someone else for that shoot. =D
I don't own snowpants, so I was not one of the adventerous photographers who made their way down along the water banks and sat in the snow for their shots. Bet they got some good ones though.

My cat got hit by a car & suffered a broken hip which needed a metal plate.
I suffered a large bill seeing as he wasn't insured. Well, this being part two of the total bill.
Poor thing got hit on the main road & managed to jump over two fences with his injuries to get back home.
Straight to the vet with him where he stayed overnight.
One adventerous cat that will be staying in for the next three weeks until he's healed up.
Pet insurance now getting sorted.

We went for our customary backyard walk this morning and Shizandra was sniffing everything, then she started digging a hole, like there was something very interesting under the ground. Then she plopped herself down and put her paws in the hole. It seemed like she had a purpose for all this. I'm still trying to figure it out!
Looks like she does not have havells at her home ..shock laga laga shock laga :P

53 years late I
Still:
love blue
am a bookworm
like to ride the ferry
have to sit in my rocking chair everyday
But:
I'm not painfully shy
I'm more adventerous in my food choices
I've learned to dare
I've become crafty!
Picture on the right was taken on my birthday last year on the ferry.
About this past week, it has nearly been hell/the most amazing thing ot have happened to me.:)
Monday night worked school/worked till 9,Tuesday hung out with Kelly till late, Wed same as Mond, Thurs got home early 7.30pm (lol), Friday left to go for the most adventerous road trip of my life. Yes, even more adventerous than running away to Flordia, but equally amazing. I can't believe my life right now. It is finally the next Tuesday and I'm starting to catch up on life a little bit.
I promised myself I wouldn't cry when I typed this, but that isn't happening. My beloved kitty Bew(Bewford) passed away this past Thursday July 8, 2010. He was a stray when he came to our house. He was about a year old when he came around last May 2009. This top left hand corner is what he looked like then. That picture was taken the day I got my camera. This is really hard for me...
He started getting sick Tuesday July 6. My mom thought it was because of the heat. I last saw him alive that morning... for I had left for Cleveland and then decided to stay there and attend Warped Tour(not knowing what was happening). My mom found him under the neighbors porch on what I believe was Tuesday and he was really sick. He could barely walk. And he did not want to come out...(My mom said he was going away to die, because he knew..). He stayed in the basement that night because the back porch is too hot(he would generaly stay back there because of indoor cats being mean to him sometimes). My mom took him to the vet. on Thursday. At 2:42 PM Thursday my mom txted me saying this "Dominic...bewford is sick but you should stay there. Love you." My phone was off due to low battery and I turned it back on at 3:36 PM recieving another message that was sent at 3:03 PM saying... "Dominic call me on Dave(she meant Dan) phone" I knew what that mean... :'(.
Bewford died at the vet as far as I know. He suffered from Feline Lukemia. We never knew. He had it before he came around and when he had his vaccinations it was obviously too late. He may have even been born with it. We never knew where he came from. I believe he was a gift from God. No one ever came looking for him. He was always ours as far as I am concerned. I know alot of you enjoyed some of my pictures of him.. These are alot of them that I never posted. Two I did not take. I love this cat more than I can fully understand. We buried him in our backyard that night after I got home.
During the time that I was absent he layed in his coffin upon his favorite in the house. I love you Bewfey and miss you dearly. But you are in a better place now where you no longer will silently suffer. No one will ever replace a pet like you. I quote myself from my wrtiting on his coffin, "I love you Bewford. You were the best cat a person could ever hope for. No animal/person will EVER replace you. 'Nuff Said. Love, Dominic." He was the nicest cat I have ever known. He lived a great and adventerous life, full of love. And he always will be loved. I remember seeing you across the street just wandering around when you first showed up. And I will never forgot you Bewfey. You'll always be the one and only handsome devil of this family(smiles in my hear with the tears on face).
I just literaly heard a cat. It wasn't Sneakers and Mittens doesn't really meow. So it could have only been you. I looked outsode and no cat was there. I'm glad your spirit is still with us Bewfey. In this house and our hearts, you will always be. I love you now and always buddy. Physically with us from May 2009-July 8, 2010. Spiritually with us forever.
