"When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the future of the human race." ~H.G. Wells

So many good quotes for this shot, but this one made me smile.

While driving through Rocky Mountain National Park I was, like I usually do, shooting from the back seat of the car. The process is not efficient, and I end up with far too many unusable photos during it, but sometimes I capture a few that I really like. Actually, a surprising amount of my photos originate while in a moving vehicle. This was one of those cases where I thought something at the last second had passed through my mountain shot and ruined it. Upon reviewing it though, I was pleasantly surprised with my bit of luck.

Kuddos to this man. Riding up those mountains along curvy roads in altitude that tests even the fittest is not an easy task. It inspires me.

Just because that log is mostly on the ground doesn't mean that you aren't walking through a canyon high above the terrain below.

Have an adventerous Thursday!

Nick on the Skyline Trail. Mt. Rainier

You dream of a mountain, the peaks rise to the sky

Will you answer its call?

With the storm on your mind and the clouds in your eyes

Will you survive?

Lie in wait, I will lie awake

Falling through a world unknown.

Stormy Eastern Iceland

“What I am in search of is not so much the gratification of a curiosity or a passion for worldly life, but something far less conditional. I do not wish to go out into the world with an insurance policy in my pocket guaranteeing my return in the event of a disappointment, like some cautious traveller who would be content with a brief glimpse of the world. On the contrary, I desire that there should be hazards, difficulties and dangers to face; I am hungry for reality, for tasks and deeds, and also for privation and suffering.”

~Hermann Hesse

We're back home after an adventerous trip to central Oregon. We had rain, fog, sun, freezing temps, and a wonderful time! This is a sampling of some of the shots I got. I'm still processing, but it was a great photographic trip as well. More to come...

“A journey, after all, neither begins in the instant we set out, nor ends when we have reached our door step once again. It starts much earlier and is really never over, because the film of memory continues running on inside of us long after we have come to a physical standstill. Indeed, there exists something like a contagion of travel, and the disease is essentially incurable.”

~Ryszard Kapuściński

Arnarstapi sea arch, Iceland. Many thanks to this stranger that I snuck up behind. They stopped in such a picturesque spot. :)

I have a new trip to plan! My good friend that moved to Florida decided he had enough and is moving back! So Nick and I bought one- way tickets to Denver at the end of July where we will meet up and explore Rocky Mountain NP, Grand Tetons NP, Yellowstone NP, Glacier NP, and the Palouse as he makes his way back to the Northwest.

Any suggestions of things to see along the way are always welcome!

“Enjoy life. There's plenty of time to be dead.” ~Hans Christian Andersen

Seljavallalaug pool, one of he oldest in Iceland, was built into this hillside in 1923. This "hidden" pool fills with hot spring water that runs down the rocks and collects in the pool. It requires about a 20 minute hike, after traveling down a dirt road for a bit, and isn't visible until you basically walk up to it. It was a bit cold that day, but the scenery helped make up for that. :)

“That is where my dearest and brightest dreams have ranged — to hear for the duration of a heartbeat the universe and the totality of life in its mysterious, innate harmony.” ~Hermann Hesse

East fjords, Iceland.

Some of my fondest memories and strongest remaining emotions I have from our trip came from our unplanned journey through the east fjords, plagued by blizzards, sand storms, and winds so strong they practically blew us off the road. The planned route was altered multiples times due to impassible mountain roads, which sent us into the longer but lower roads through the east fjords of Iceland. The remote, harsh beauty of it left me in awe.

After hours of driving, we were forced to turn around due to road/weather conditions within 50 miles of our destination in north Iceland. There were no more options or routes left to try. It was already getting late and we now had no place to stay the night. Seeing that the roads looked moderately better when approaching the north from the opposite direction we decided to turn around and just drive and sleep in shifts until we either gave up or made it. In a moment, we essentially decided to drive all the way around Iceland in a night (our original plan, but spread out over 8 days!). Incredibly, we did it, despite the storms. It was 24hrs of nothing going to plan, the scariest driving I've experienced, almost constant problem solving, spur of the moment decisions, crazy ideas, some of which worked, and some of the most moving beauty I've witnessed. Rugged, wild, elemental. It was a day of living.

Angel's Landing hike in Zion. This is where I was when I also took my "Range of Red" photo. It was an amazing hike, albeit a bit dangerous especially with the snow. Well worth the experience though.

Point of view

@mjtaylorphotography

There is no land discovered,

That can't be found anew.

So travel on intrepid,

Into the hazy blue.

And as you seek your fortune,

And near your lifelong quest.

There'll still be countless peaks to climb,

Before your final rest.

Sunrise at Trillium Lake, Mt. Hood, Oregon.

“It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life and in change there is power.” ~Alan Cohen

Sunrise, somewhere over the Cascades in Canada on our way to Alaska. Whenever possible I book flights around sunrise or sunset. Luckily they're usually the cheapest and the prettiest, I just wish I could roll my window down for some photos. ;)

Another beach trip yesterday, Bert was his most adventerous yet. Going for the Kong at full pace despite some large waves.

The "question?" How old are my two Flickr friends and Beach Buds AlyeceT and TimT. ....I think they will keep that answer blowin' in the wind : ) Today is their Birthday ~September 9th~ they are married and share the same birth date...how fun is that! They are great friends and we have shared many a day at the beach together as well as numerous adventerous photo shoots! What a treat! This is the beach that we often hang out at.

Alyece has been on Flickr since August 2008 www.flickr.com/photos/29128126@N05/

and TimT her husband just joined Flickr www.flickr.com/photos/53258436@N05

Happy Birthday To You Tim and Alyece! Today's photograph is Dedicated to you! : )

A sister image to the last post showing the interesting folds revealed by the erosion by the waterfall of Black Force, a little known but dramatic falls. The Spout is a further dramatic waterfall in the same valley and all can be combined in an excellent adventerous walk/scramble up the valley/gorge.

Thor's Well located just South of the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center in Cook's Chasm, Oregon. This photo was taken during high tide. I thought I'd be happy with photos taken from the view point with a zoom lens, but as I watched a group of tourists walk out to Thor's Well, I convinced myself that that's where I needed to be. So...off I went to get up close and personal with Thor's Well. DSC_5247A

"Sitting on the edge of the Oregon coast, a gaping, seemingly bottomless sinkhole swallows the unbroken stream of seawater around it. But Thor’s Well, as the natural wonder is known, is not bottomless. It is, however, very dangerous.

The site is most spectacular at high tide, or during storms when water washes violently over the rocks and funnels into the hole. During these sudden torrents, unsuspecting visitors to the site run the risk of being swept right into the maelstrom. Regardless of the risks, photographers and nature lovers continue to flock to the stunning fountain to see the aggressive waters that live up to their godly namesake’s stormy personality." -- www.atlasobscura.com/places/thor-s-well

This"adventerous" squirrel ventured down from the fence and was rooting around just before I let the Pugs out. He raced back up the fence and taunted them as they barked at him. He must like living on the edge.

An adventure is defined as an exciting or unusual experience; it may also be a bold, usually risky undertaking, with an uncertain outcome. The term is often used to refer to activities with some potential for physical danger.....

“There is no more sagacious animal than the Icelandic horse. He is stopped by neither snow, nor storm, nor impassable roads, nor rocks, glaciers, or anything. He is courageous, sober, and surefooted. He never makes a false step, never shies." ~Jules Verne

Plus, they are always photoshoot ready.

Beautiful park close to the town of Bar Harbor Maine. A small town with an adventerous feeling. The large Arcadia National Park adjacent and domineering the area, and costal views on the Eastern end, including a Light House.

After about a year or two of deliberation, Nick and I finally decided to get another pup! She is a 4 month old Alaskan Klee Kai (aka mini husky)/Eskimo mix. Like George, she has lots of energy, is very intelligent, loves to play, and wants to spend all of her time with us. She will likely never match his jumping ability though. ;) We named her Zoe, which means "life." It suits her zippy, zaney little self. We, including George, already adore her!

Once more she enters the Pacific Ocean happy in her heart and ready to become one with the waves. A wet suit is wise for winter days and it protects the skin from sun too. Not all California girls are surfers but the ones that are out there are fit and adventerous and love the sea.

a bit back me and sav went on a trip to london for the weekend. i love how mysterious and adventerous the markets there seem :)

...ok, this is a story writing challenge. I'm providing the illustration. You get to add one or possibly two words to the title, like: mother, Uncle Joe, President Obama, Dad, Henry and then that will set the tone for what the situation is and the possible development of action. Please take into consideration every clue in the picture as you develop your story. Spelling and punctuation don't mean crap, ok? Paste your story in a comment box, those of you with an adventerous spirit.

I feed this cat intermittantly - at first I put food out when it appeared, but Jean pointed out that it was looking plump, and indeed it was. So I put out food from time to time, as with any of our backyard visitors. But I don't believe we're its only lifeline. Its very appealing but its also hissed and driven off our traditional tabby friends Rhodie and Sunflower.

So - finally back from Portugal and no time for post-processing.

It was a great time - no an amazing time. And despite we didn´t have really spectacular light, we have been on the beach everyday. Quite exhausting but also adventerous.

Thanks Mat, for being such a great guide.

Obrigada, Luís and Teresa, for being such great friends, who passionatly live photography and are so willing to be on site despite coldness and early/late hour.

Adventerous hikers struggle to crest the last dune along the Lake Michigan shoreline. The actual drop-off becomes MUCH steeper just past the near horizon (see "The Dune," www.flickr.com/photos/png441/20556527623/).

hi flickr friends! it's been almost a full year since I've posted anything here. going to try and get back on the bandwagon. this was taken last week as we traveled to the U.P. of Michigan for a few days of snowmobiling, my first time in many years. even though day one held sub zero temps upon our departure, we had a very adventerous and fantastic time.

Adventerous bridal shoots are challenging indeed but sometimes an element of luck is vital like we have in this shot when couple of dark geese decided to come near the bride all of a sudden resulting in just the shot we were attempting for quite some time. I like the harmony of colour tones here between bride's dress and the beaks of these lovely birds complemented by calm blue water......

Thurston is named for the wealthy man on Gilligan's Island, Thurston Howell III. There's a singer/musician who goes by "Thurston Howl", and our Thurston used to howl and cry, raising a ruckus, for food and water, when he was getting to know us. They've grown a bit since this, adult size now.

i saw this quote somewhere and i really liked it, but i cant remember where i saw it and how i saw it, so i would love to give someone credit for the quote, but i just dont remember! hah

i just wanna be free, and not trapped in a school where i'm being controlled like a monkey. i wanna travel, be adventurous, and pursue my passions and dreams! I feel like i could be doing so much more of my passion and for God.

It's me again, Katie Isabella! Some furriends here, myFlickr aunties and uncles asked me about my story. Goodness, I don't know too much but I will tell you what I know.

I am three years young and that means someone else took care of me for a long time it seems. And they must have loved me too because I came into mom's arms even at the Vet's where she found me, and head butted and kissed her and scented her the ENTIRE time that I wasn't making biscuits all over her..even her face! (I'm nothing if not thorough.)

Mom came home leaving me there until she prepared for me. So when she went back several days later, I was all ready and bursting with love.

Mom could not be anywhere near me but I was in her arms, purring like a race car engine, head butting and scenting and biscuit making. I clung to her back all night long when we went to bed. I have never gone under the bed or been afraid even when my human brothers have come to introduce themselves to me.

The nice Vet people said I was brought there from a foster home because there were too many animals to make it "fair" (their words) to keep me. So I stayed at the Vet's for a month or so.

Vet's people said I was with an older person who became unable to care for me (I think they may have gone to the Rainbow Bridge). It's easy to see I was loved because I am extremely loving and unafraid. AND adventerous. I will blog about that in my Katie bloggie. See? I impawtent! xoxoxox to Aunties and Uncles here.

This little bitty fella was just as sweet as could be. He was the adventerous one.

Its was Bemos first day out c: I thought Id take him out since fall is coming very soon and its getting very cold, but today was nice and warm so I took him outside for his first time :D he was very adventerous and hard to keep up with he loved the 'wild'

Another adventerous edit, this time from another car I forgot to show when I originally uploaded my Puerto Banus shot, a Corvette C6.

Focus on a piece of Borma Pistachio Baklawa (amongtst other varieties of baklawa) on sale at a specialist store in Cairo, Egypt.

The history of baklava is not well-documented; but although it has been claimed by many ethnic groups, the best evidence is that it is of Central Asian Turkic origin, with its current form being developed in the imperial kitchens of the Topkapı Palace, Istanbul, Turkey.

Borma is also known as the 'master' of middle eastern sweets. Those interested in being adventerous can use this recipe with the following ingredients:1 kilo Borma dough, 1 kilo Pistachios, Sugar Syrup and Shortening:

1. Take one part of the dough (looks like long hairy white threads).

2. Spread pistachios in the center all along the hairy threads.

3. Roll the dough over the pistachios from one edge till the other edge.

4. Put the Borma (looks like long roll) on a greased baking sheet. Fry till brown in color. Turn on all sides and fry till sides are brown in shade.

5. Pour hot sugar syrup on top (generous amount).

6. Cut Borma and serve hot or cold.

Great to see the falls in its full strength during monsoon.. very majestic. But not much activities to do.. dont be too adventerous near the water as it'd be dangerous to climb down those slippery rocks..

I found her yesterday at TRU. I was very lucky and happy to see her! She's very pretty and her hair is actually in a pony tail. I didn't know that. I wish it was a little more detailed though like the artwork and in the show. I have talked to a Jakks designer for Winx before and she told me that the Winx's outfits are much more adventerous than they are allowed to be in the fashion dolls. So that explains why a lot of changes are made and things are lengthened/made more appropriate.I can not give the contact out so don't ask.

The City Style Shoes are amazing! Love them! The detail in them is just incredible.
