There has been so much in the course of recent human events which has been unspeakably disruptive. Outside of the news cycle, the earth and it's non-human inhabitants keep turning and finding ways around.

This man has trekked over mountains, through deserts, through jungles, and across great expanses of country. Sometimes running, sometimes with his dog, sometimes with me or others, mostly alone. Even when the wind is howling with snow blowing sideways, he's out with the elements.

Several years ago, I went on a poetry writing retreat/river trip. One of the writing prompts was: face your enemy, i.e. write about what antagonizes, haunts, or irritates. Recently, I have been applying that tactic to specular highlights, the bugaboo of photographers who dare to photograph in the light of day. Instead of cursing those sparkling nuisances, I've decided to play with them.
Tumbleweeds racing around the desert landscape are a familiar, windy day spring scene. I have watched herds of them hip-hopping across the back field like jack rabbits. And like jack rabbits, they are prolific and efficient reproducers.
