Will our burning desire to get back to "normal" override our ability to practice restraint and consideration of others?
I went in search of ice yesterday and found some delicious specimens, but as I was leaving the canyon, the reflections of the sun-lit red rock walls reflected in a small pool caught my eye. If I moved to the opposite side of the pool to rid the image of my shadow, I lost the reflection, so I included the shadow with the intention of cropping or erasing it out.
This morning, I started playing around with the twisting and stretching of my shadow into unrecognizable shapes and sizes - something I have spent an inordinate amount of time at psychologically in the past - until this little gem stepped out of my manipulations and into its own becoming.

The 2nd in a small series taking a 'straight shot' of a Cabbagetown Fence and digitally manipulating the image with colour treatments and effects. The effects are done is such as way as to maintain the incredible detailing of the old wood and the crumbling, poorly-done paint job.
Again, this image got me thinking about the work of Barnett Newman and his epic-sized horizontal paintings with their vertical "zips". Here the colour scheme seems to suggest a vague connection with his painting, "Cathedra". While not trying to overtly create a Newman, I am letting his influence flow through and inform my work. Good old Barney would not have liked all this detail and colour play !!!!!

A very old wooden cupboard door being stripped of ancient layers of paint and varnish, transforming it into a gallery-quality artwork.
Homage to Marcel Duchamp.

My image making is not about the representation of a particular subject or scene. For me, it's about the discovery of the poetry in the camera's language of light. I look for color and movement and patterns then dance with my camera to listen to the light. The poem itself often holds its voice and rhythm until I tease it out with Lightroom or it hits me upside the head when checking for spots in Photoshop. The poem in words is often simply the title alone inviting the viewer to travel to other worlds within the image and beyond.
Lets please pray for Holy wisdom to come to the world leaders. For the sake of Jesus's sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world. In Jesus I trust.
