Someone put a comment on one of my previous autumn shots and said that if you turned it ninety degrees counter-clockwise, you could see a face. Well, I certainly think that this one looks a little like a Rorschach ink blot. So, have at it. :-) Again, this is not a crop. I just zoomed in on some of the detail on the other side of the river.
It amazes me that the city of Corner Brook doesen't promote this area to the high heavens. I know the peak color only lasts for a week or two, but when it arrives you will search far and wide to find anything to match it! You would think that Riverside Drive would be lined with photographers at this time of year. Instead, you would be hard pressed to find anyone at all shooting there. Even the provincial government does very little in the way of promotion ... but, of course that's understandable ... it's over here on the west coast of the province and not in the St. John's area.
A new rose on my bush out front.
I am in awe at the invites and flickr friends that like this rose as I do. Thank you alll so much commenting and inviting on this photo. I appreciate it all. ANdrea

It had been a while since I experienced snow in the winter. A recent trip to the Sierras brought back memories of snowy winters spent on the East Coast, helped me recharge my batteries and provided me a much needed chance to dust the cobwebs off of my cameras. The snow covered landscapes were such a joy! In this scene, shot with my DJI Mini 3 pro, I was drawn by the contrast of the white snow on the ground against the warm light of the setting sun shining on the tree tops on the side of the mountains
this is a new collaboration that
i´m doing with my mom. my photography and her paintings,
we´re morphing our art into one piece of artwork.

No, just a closer look at Woodland Sage / Ziersalbei (Salvia nemorosa)
We have a local fence that is rusted 'chain link' and mainly held up by the rust! But there is an evergreen plant that grows up it, and through the winter it is amazingly still blossoming. Yes! After a very sub-zero night we have sunshine and blue skies! - though it is midday and we are still sub-zero!

A beautiful chapel from the XII century, right on a huge rock 200m over the river, the catalan version of the Horseshoe Bend :)
On the other side the river continues giving this horseshoe shape as well.
This is a 3 photos panorama, each photo being 3 different exposures in order to get the whole light spectrum as the sun was setting right in front of the camera.
I will post a 7 photos panorama that takes the whole horizontal panorama, kind of a challenge :)
My Facebook Page for a Before/After of this picture in the next days: :)
Kingfishers occupy a wide range of habitats. While they are often associated with rivers and lakes, over half the world's species are found in forests and forested streams. They also occupy a wide range of other habitats. The red-backed kingfisher of Australia lives in the driest deserts, although kingfishers are absent from other dry deserts like the Sahara. Other species live high in mountains, or in open woodland, and a number of species live on tropical coral atolls. Numerous species have adapted to human-modified habitats, particularly those adapted to woodlands, and may be found in cultivated and agricultural areas, as well as parks and gardens in towns and cities.
The kingfishers have a cosmopolitan distribution, occurring throughout the world's tropical and temperate regions. They are absent from the polar regions and some of the world's driest deserts. A number of species have reached islands groups, particularly those in the south and east Pacific Ocean. The Old World tropics and Australasia are the core areas for this group. Europe and North America north of Mexico are very poorly represented, with only one common kingfisher (common kingfisher and belted kingfisher, respectively), and a couple of uncommon or very local species each: (ringed kingfisher and green kingfisher in the southwestern United States, pied kingfisher and white-throated kingfisher in southeastern Europe).
Individual species may have massive ranges, like the common kingfisher, which ranges from Ireland across Europe, North Africa, and Asia as far as the Solomon Islands in Australasia, or the pied kingfisher, which has a widespread distribution across Africa and Asia. Other species have much smaller ranges, particularly insular species which are endemic to single small islands. The Kofiau paradise kingfisher is restricted to the island of Kofiau off New Guinea.

Probably not the choice considering I was doing my real job inspecting accident damaged vehicles for insurance companies.
It was a good experience it has to be said, Imagine if you can being one of my customers a guy in his late forties with a ford ford with front end damage, You walk into the building up to the bodyshop desk and find me! You introduce yourself and i respond by confirming who you are the model and reg of the car you own followed by OK i will be right with you.
You look not really believing what has just happened.
I had that look twice, Not so much the my being trans but more it was me who was going to inspect the damage.
It got even better at the vehicle with me bending over the engine bay, kneeling down to look at the damage and explaining how we were going to repair the damage or advising that the vehicle was a total loss.
Each customer was very good and after the initial reaction they settled and accepted the situation. The reaction would have been same had i been a genetic woman.
So my first customer facing work experience went brilliantly.
However storm clouds are gathering on the horizon. Don't worry nothing bad as such.
A few weeks ago Aaron and I went up to Squamish and hiked the Chief via a new route neither of us had been on before. On the way home we stopped at a view point along the Sea to Sky Highway to take in the stunning sunset. Reflected in the shot is Anvil Island, one of the smaller islands found in Howe Sound.
A Conrail GP38-2 leads 31M towards Gibson in 2005. Not totally uncommon back then, but looking back now, wow.

For a fun interlude, this is a close-up/headshot image based off one of my more popular pics posted here on flickr in the last year+. This particular image was generated with the help of the FaceApp application, where I took a photo of a close-up of the "1992-August pic3" pic I've posted here. Then I just applied a filter in FA in part to help with the graininess of this close-up - and to have some fun with the look... :-)
While I had the rig set up from last night I thought I'd better get some more use out of it. Camera laid on its back under a regular pendulum. Lights off and pendulum with light swung for about 50 secs to leave a gap in the physiogram. Lens cap put on and camera moved to tripod at pre determined location and flash fired while I stand there and pull a stupid face, the first of many this year I should imagine!

This is the short story of a peculiar little green amphibian that dreamed of fly/ing.
A frog that decided to take a journey to see what was in/side the fishbowl, what might be out/side of it and, to find that which might be in between.
Now, you can turn the page when you hear the sound of water drops drip drop dripping...
