Looking Close... on Friday: A single egg

A tiny nest that fell out of a tree after it was finished with; a little plastic egg from my Child Care Centre; a Crimson Rosella feather from the bird bath; in the Mulberry bush which needs a good trim this Autumn.

Suburban street

where a slick mash

of ice and sleet

is falling, cars

geared down, tree

branches sagging

and a wind that

seems phlegmatic

suffers through

the night, roofs

glazed, the cold

numbing to those

out in it, man and

dog, patrol officer,

an insomniac who

seeks the silence

of God but hears

a distant siren

wailing her name:

what falls might

be the dust of stars,

chips of light,

crystals swirling

piecemeal

in a brain-

storm I might

only have

imagined

Every time I’ve been to this stunning lake the water has been frozen solid so I was pleased to find a small section open. The downside was that to include it in my composition I had to… stand in it.

This is a truly stunning location and one I love returning to every time I visit the rockies.

A rainforest is an area of tall, mostly evergreen trees and a high amount of rainfall. Rainforests are Earth’s oldest living ecosystems, with some surviving in their present form for at least 70 million years. They are incredibly diverse and complex, home to more than half of the world’s plant and animal species—even though they cover just 6% of Earth’s surface. This makes rainforests astoundingly dense with flora and fauna. Rainforests’ rich biodiversity is incredibly important to our well-being and the well-being of our planet.

Took this pic of a female tufted duck at a local lake, the colours in the sky went crazy but there wasn't much in the way of landscapes to get and the horizon was pretty blocked up by trees, so i thought i would try and capture the colours in the water :)

Sorry I am only on every now and again at the moment but i think that's the way its going to have to stay for a while I'm just too busy and struggling to find the time.If I'm not back on before Easter hope you all have a good holiday!!! :) and even though I'm not back much its nice to be back! :)

Each of these photographs today have a nominal subject far away. They need to be enlarged to see. But more importantly it highlights my philosophy that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

A little lichen, in a little corner, on a little window, of an old little church.

Someday I'll go back and get the entire church. It is tiny, painted white, pink and burgundy, and is beyond cute! I wanted to see what was going on inside because I can't ever remember this church being used but...short girl problems! Next time I'll bring a stool so I can get a peek.

Can't believe it is the middle of the week already! I'm going to celebrate that with a coffee!! :-)

Happy Wednesday all!

One of those precious special moments. After waiting for their scout to come back to tell them he has found a field for the day, these geese fly to that particular field and will return to the lake again at night.

... this is my favorite macro because it is the eye of my dog I had to let go not too long ago ... it's an unusual focus, but lets you look right into his soul ... he was a difficult dog, we were his third owners but I refused to give up on him, he lived with us for 10 years and I really miss him ...

I love skyward shots when the sky is blue, clear and sunny! Even when I give myself a blind spot for the next ten minutes. This was when the blossom was being ornately beautiful to the point of being superfluous and I loved it so here we are. As you can probably see from my previous shots, I love catching the Sun, it's the additional co-star of many of my works and I love playing with the effects and challenging the camera's software to translate it, often it's quite exciting to see how it turns out.

I hope everyone's week is off to a good start so far and so as always, thank you! :)

A view looking east on E. Main from N. Walnut St. in downtown Champaign. The five buildings in this view on the north side of E. Main all contribute to the Champaign Downtown Commercial District listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020. All were built between 1860 and 1907, and are Italianate and early 20th century commercial designs.

The most prominent building on this block is the four-story building with a center atrium that was constructed for the Jos. Kuhn & Company in 1907. Jos. Kuhn & Co. is a longtime outpost for men's attire that gradually grew until four of the five buildings in this block were being utilized by the company. Although the company's footprint today is smaller, it is still in business today at the same location.

Located in Champaign County in east central Illinois, the twin cities of Champaign and Urbana are the home of the University of Illinois. The population of the City of Champaign at the 2020 census was 88,302, while Champaign County had a population of 205,865.

Source: An outstanding source of information on Champaign's history is T.J. Blakeman's champaignhistory.com website. Highly recommended for a much more in-depth look at the history of the city.
